cisono Posted 20 September 2006 Posted 20 September 2006 A friend of mine has recently been on a speed awareness course (after being clocked doing 34 mph/h a month ago). He got home with a free copy of the Highway Code, a free keyring with the number 30 on it (not sure why ) and free tea and biscuits at the cricket grounds (while the cricket goes on) Not bad!
lookwhaticando Posted 20 September 2006 Posted 20 September 2006 Speed awareness course? They doing one for crack next week?

Yes, my wife went on one of those because of roughly the same offence ....bloody maniac.

Was it in Northamptonshire ? A lot of 'initiatives ' to do with speeding are on the Northants cops agenda. It some times (basically ) saves you points on your licence , but costs you in time off work (extra to the fine ) , and it scares you into not speeding again . (alledgedly)
Thracian Posted 20 September 2006 Posted 20 September 2006 It was one of those soulless cameras that recorded the offence...at 11 o'clock at night with no-one around, driving uphill, and only because of doing someone a favour. Never mind - Blair's Gestapo sure put her right.

Never mind - Blair's Gestapo sure put her right. Bloody ridiculous number of cameras these days. I came back to the UK for the first time just under 5 years back in June... I was stunned by the shear number of cameras on the stretch of road from Birmingham Int'l Airport to Coventry. Practically one every 500 yards for a while. Disgusting really. They claim it's about safety, but that's clearly not the case judging by where they stick the f/cking things in the ground.
Suffolk_fox Posted 21 September 2006 Posted 21 September 2006 The average speed ones are a good idea I think, and they really work.
The People's Hero Posted 21 September 2006 Posted 21 September 2006 I like the ones which flash up how fast you're going.
Dr The Singh Posted 21 September 2006 Posted 21 September 2006 I have no problem with camera's etc, aslong as they are in areas where the public are really at risk, ie schools, 'high streets', dangerous country roads etc!!! But I suppose it's better to go on a SAC then get 3 point and a fine???
Daggers Posted 21 September 2006 Posted 21 September 2006 I have no problem with cameras if they were all replaced with these...
cisono Posted 21 September 2006 Author Posted 21 September 2006 I like the ones which flash up how fast you're going. Yeah, those are fine in my books!
Alexikokopops Posted 21 September 2006 Posted 21 September 2006 I like the ones which flash up how fast you're going. On that note I like the ones which flash up at a junction saying "SLOW DOWN" and a picture of the junction you're approaching. Always got to make that flash if you're turning off there.
