lookwhaticando Posted 23 September 2006 Posted 23 September 2006 Well that was immensely boring from Tottenham... not that I expected anything interesting from them at all. But for a while all they did was launch balls up the field when only Defoe was up front (surrounded by two defenders once the balls were launched his way). Tedious stuff, and not what you expect from a "top 5" team as their fans insist they are. Wake up Tottenham, you're wank and you're not going to make Europe this year.
lookwhaticando Posted 23 September 2006 Author Posted 23 September 2006 I must say David Pleat and this other arsebrain halfwit he's commentating with are driving me up the wall. Dirk Kuyt... Now how does one pronounce that? "Kite"? "K-out"? "Koiht" (generally accepted) Make your minds up lads (Pleat thinks it's Kout... tosser). Oh and congratulations to Mark Gonzales who scored a goal for Liverpool on his full league debut. And Kuyt himself has also bagged a goal this afternoon.

Nevermind pronouncing his name right, they can't spell it right either. It's Dirk Kuijt ("ij" is a single letter in the Dutch alphabet).

Seems odd that his name has changed to just a Y - it's not like it's a typo on the back of his shirt, he could have said something about it if it wasn't properly spelled.

I guess both are acceptable really, as I see that even the Dutch mix it up quite a bit, but the point is that the 'Y' is pronounced like a Dutch 'ij'... I don't know how you spell it phonetically though...

City_4_Life Posted 23 September 2006 Posted 23 September 2006 Well the long ball obviously didnt work.
lookwhaticando Posted 23 September 2006 Author Posted 23 September 2006 Well the long ball obviously didnt work. If Tottenham keep picking up points at the rate they have, and playing as badly as they have, they're in serious danger of making one of my ultimate dreams (in footballing terms) come true. Obviously fantastic success for Leicester City is ultimate dream number one... but it's followed by Tottenham getting relegated from the Premiership. Come on Jol - keep fielding your shit teams who play long ball, I'll love you for it in the long run. (I like Jol, seems a decent guy, but I actually hate him because he's at Tottenham... if he got them relegated, though, he wouldn't be so bad)

Dutch names are often changed like that for ease of pronunciation, like Cruijff was always spelt Cruyff

TrickyTrev Posted 24 September 2006 Posted 24 September 2006 They've always played the long ball under Jol.
