Rincewind Posted 26 September 2006 Posted 26 September 2006 Got my tickets today. Going via Eurotunnel which I am quite pleased about as I've never been on it. The Hotel is the Admiral in Ostend Close to the beach (won't need it though) It's got an Traditional English pub -whatever that means- rooms ensuite but no tea or coffee machine so if I drink anything other than beer I'll need a kettle. Re drinking on the coach as asked in a previous thread It is not allowed on this coach. How much the driver will enforce this rull with up to 50 people going and coming from a Beer Festival remains to be seen. Read a couple of the past comments from visitors. It's amazing how people see things different. One gave the hotel a rating of 8 another 3 within a couple of months One said the facilities were very good for a lower priced hotel the other said there was not enough and would rather pay more. Anyway it'll do for me only there for two nights. Doubt I'll use the swimming pool games room etc. Hotel Admiral video

The People's Hero Posted 26 September 2006 Posted 26 September 2006 Did you go to Oktoberfest in Germany Hop? If you want good beer, simply check out pubs with their own micro breweries. Spot on. Plenty of 'em round here in the garden of England
Rincewind Posted 26 September 2006 Author Posted 26 September 2006 I wanted to go to a German Beer Festival but could not find any coach trips that did them from Leicester. Perhaps I need to do a more thorough search. As for micro beers check out the real ale link below. Any recommendations will be useful Theres a section for pubs near football grounds. (PL to NL) How does the Maidstone area fair?

The People's Hero Posted 27 September 2006 Posted 27 September 2006 I had far too much to drink last night. A friend of mine works in a small-ish brewery round here and managed to get a local pub to take one of his ales on as a guest. Was drinking that last night. 8 pints later I was smashed. The beer was okay - nothing special but certainly drinkable and this morning I didn't feel *too* bad. Hoorary for beer.
Daggers Posted 27 September 2006 Posted 27 September 2006 Hoorary for beer. Beer can do anything, it's really great. I reckon beer could solve world hunger and stop global terrorism if it was given half a chance. Damn politicians!
