Scow Posted 8 December 2004 Posted 8 December 2004 They beat Olympiakos 3-1 on the night, with goals coming from Pongo Bongo, Mellor and Gerrard. 4 English clubs in the last 16, can't be bad.
Anish Posted 8 December 2004 Posted 8 December 2004 Fantastic result after being 1-0 down. Well done to them.
Scow Posted 8 December 2004 Author Posted 8 December 2004 Such a stunning strike by Gerrard to seal the game, a half volley from about 25 yards out that rocketted in. Well worth watching that again, tremendous stuff.

Steven Posted 8 December 2004 Posted 8 December 2004 Liverpool have never been my favourite side though we used to do really well against them until T****r arrived. I hope it means more qualification places for European competitions next year and when we sneak into that last qualifying place next year in the PL, I shall say, well SG and fancy playing for City. :w00t:

Scow Posted 8 December 2004 Author Posted 8 December 2004 I remember that we beat Liverpool at Anfield for 3 seasons in a row under O'Neill - Not many teams can claim to have done that. We won in 1997, Elliott and Fenton :w00t: with the goals, did the same in 1999 winning 1-0, Ian Marshall with a last minute winner after outpacing the defence from an Impey hoof. Our last win at Anfield was a 2-0 victory in 2001, Cottee and Gilchrist with the goals.
