Scow Posted 9 December 2004 Posted 9 December 2004 Meanwhile, it is becoming increasingly unlikely that striker David Connolly will figure against Reading. The 27-year-old is still struggling with a thigh strain he picked during the 2-0 victory over Leeds United last week. However, Martin Keown, Kevin Pressman and Danny Tiatto are back on the training ground after injury while Peter Canero should return from a knee problem next week. "Over Christmas the more people we have fit the better," Levein said. "There are a lot of games and some people tend to forget that it is about the 17 or 18 players we have available, not just the 11 on the pitch." If Canero's been injured all along, surely we would've been informed about it. I believe it's a cover-up for some private matter, but then again, that's not really our business.... So it could be that the club are just trying to protect him from media and fan attention..
Anish Posted 9 December 2004 Posted 9 December 2004 You can never trust the club when it comes to public pronouncements. Although I hope he has been genuinely injured and not had a falling out with the gaffer - I think we're better with him in the team.
Ric Flair Posted 9 December 2004 Posted 9 December 2004 Dabizas was injured when Adams left and Bassett didn't say a word about Dabizas for about 2 weeks and everyone thought he'd been dropped, but he was injured. Sometimes they just can't be arsed to tell us, even when asked about injuries.
Scow Posted 9 December 2004 Author Posted 9 December 2004 It was funny how Morris was able to feature as soon as Levein took over too....
Jordan Posted 10 December 2004 Posted 10 December 2004 Also, Canero was given a spot in the lineup recently when everybody was wondering where he went or what injury he had. Perhaps another reason for this is because Canero has sort of dropped off of everybody's radar...? As nobody ever comes out and says what's really going on with him, and as Peter hasn't really featured in the lineup for a long time, he's a little more easy to forget than the rest.

We've been asking about Canero from the moment Makin came back into the squad! And no-one from the management team or newspaper mentioned why on earth Canero was dropped from the XI and the bench too! I can't imagine that Canero dropped off the management teams radar ... so I'm afraid I don't quite get your point

There were rumours of him lacking fitness under Adams, hence why he rarely played.
Jordan Posted 10 December 2004 Posted 10 December 2004 That's what I was getting at, though I'd have done a lot better to phrase it in just one or two sentences as Scowy did
filbertway Posted 10 December 2004 Posted 10 December 2004 I know someone who plays in macca's team,, who was in the physio with canero. He told me that canero had said he had a knee injury.
