Ultra Posted 17 October 2006 Posted 17 October 2006 I'd like to see him prove himself in the lower leagues first. I'm old enough to remember Frank McLintock..

Fox in a Box Posted 17 October 2006 Posted 17 October 2006 Yeah the last thing we want is another city legend coming to manage us.......and turn us into shit. who was the last one then?
Ric Flair Posted 20 October 2006 Posted 20 October 2006 One of my favourite Taggart moments was his brace against Sheffield Wednesday, he also had a goal disallowed in that game that would have given him a hat-trick. The best thing about this was my dad had a bet on Taggart to score first and Leiecster to win 3-0 and he also had a crazy bet that he'd score a hat-trick. My dad was seething when Taggart had his goal disallowed. He still won about £250, but had the hat-trick also come in he'd have been looking at nearly a grand!!!
newportfox Posted 21 October 2006 Posted 21 October 2006 Yeah i think another reason was the arrival of Dabizas. Would rather have had Gez personally i just dont think MA knew how to get the best out of him during his spell with the foxes was deff a legnd in and around the ground
Fez of Mahrez Posted 29 October 2006 Posted 29 October 2006 Oh no! Who deleted that? I was in the middle of a quality edit!!

Nationwider Posted 29 October 2006 Posted 29 October 2006 just so we know i never posted that Sorry to spoil the edit, Fezzler - twas me. It wasn't very Holly. Probably written by someone with bad B.O, low self-esteem and who enjoys an unplesant relationship with sheep.

Nationwider Posted 30 October 2006 Posted 30 October 2006 ...and speaking of burly blokes, Gerry Taggart. Great player - like Matty Elliott, started his City career with a fair few goals too. I think he'd feature in my hard-man XI, in a back four consisting of: Ramsey - Walsh - Taggart - Whitlow

Jordan Posted 1 November 2006 Posted 1 November 2006 GER-RY! GER-RY! GER-RY! Gerry Taggart smacked Robbie Savage in the head during a match well before all of us would have liked to do the same thing. Can anybody find the photo of Taggart running off to celebrate after scoring against Crvena Zvezda?
Scow Posted 3 November 2006 Posted 3 November 2006 Gerry Taggart smacked Robbie Savage in the head during a match well before all of us would have liked to do the same thing. I remember the incident where he strangled Savage in a home game against Arsenal (2001 I think?) What used to amuse me about Taggart was where he'd bring the ball out of defence and go past opposing players by showing some nifty footwork. Him and Elliott seemed to be quite good at that.
lookwhaticando Posted 5 November 2006 Posted 5 November 2006 I must say he was a favourite of mine some seasons ago. I always thought he was brilliant.
London_Fox Posted 6 November 2006 Posted 6 November 2006 He had that realy LCFC spirit about him...like Walshy. For a while nothing could compare to him, Walshy and Elliot...what about the three now though, anything like in terms of attitude and approach?
lookwhaticando Posted 6 November 2006 Posted 6 November 2006 We should bring the three of them back as coaches when we've a bit of money.
Jonbluefox9 Posted 11 November 2006 Posted 11 November 2006 We should bring the three of them back as coaches when we've a bit of money. Taggart was at the training ground a few weeks ago watching the under 18s play and was wearing the training wear. Might be doing some work with the Academy as part of a coaching course?

Might be doing some work with the Academy as part of a coaching course? Really? That'd be cool. It's what we need most - ex-players coming back as coaches. It'd generate a buzz at the very least.

Corky Posted 22 January 2008 Posted 22 January 2008 Gerry was just a real cult hero. Not the most technically gifted, looked as though he didn't care about fitness much, but he was class. Won most headers, and scored soem vital goals, I remember against Sheffield Wednesday, and Chelsea. Real passion for the club, delighted to see him back here, great commentator, and that throttling of Wise gives him legendary status. Gerry! Gerry! Gerry!
