Bert Posted 13 October 2006 Posted 13 October 2006 I always used to think Taggart was crap, riight up until we beat Spurs 3-2 and he scored the winner! It seemed to be after that, that i thought he was awesome.

Tommeh Posted 13 October 2006 Posted 13 October 2006 was just about to post that DG then saw you already had! I love it sums him up he was a cult hero when he played for us but to do that after he'd left makes him a pure legend
lildave3 Posted 13 October 2006 Posted 13 October 2006 Absolute Legend. His celebration - just a swing of the arm, loved it
Ultra Posted 13 October 2006 Posted 13 October 2006 GERRY! GERRY! GERRY! Top bloke. I once played in a quiz team at Filbo with him and Robbie Savage. We won a crate of Guinness each!
martyn Posted 14 October 2006 Posted 14 October 2006 Taggart was crap up until a league cup semi final away at Sunderland which finished 0-0 and he was immense. After that he was reborn and was a great part of our side under MON.
The People's Hero Posted 14 October 2006 Posted 14 October 2006 Why didn't he play 2001/2002? I don't remember his being out of favour. Was he injured?
Jon the Hat Posted 14 October 2006 Posted 14 October 2006 What I love about that clip is the way the Ref (Rennie if I'm not mistaken) watches him do it for a few seconds then, when it's clear he can't watch any longer without losing his job he blows the whistle... Brilliant.
Jonbluefox9 Posted 15 October 2006 Posted 15 October 2006 Why didn't he play 2001/2002? I don't remember his being out of favour. Was he injured? He was injured from the previous season. IIRC he kicked the post during a defeat at Filbert Street against Middlesborough in the 2000/01 season and it basically injured a part of his leg, possibly his knee. He came back for a few minutes at the end of the final game at Filbert Street the following season.
Wils Posted 15 October 2006 Posted 15 October 2006 Legend. I always remember that goal he scored at White Heart Lane to beat Spurs 3-2,a few matches after we lost the cup final to them.
martyn Posted 16 October 2006 Posted 16 October 2006 are you sure about that? i thought the Spurs game straight after the cup final finished 2-0 to us at WHL with Cottee and Heskey scoring??
Wils Posted 16 October 2006 Posted 16 October 2006 are you sure about that? i thought the Spurs game straight after the cup final finished 2-0 to us at WHL with Cottee and Heskey scoring?? Im pretty sure it was 3-2,the 99/00 season. Could be wrong,Louise....?

werestandingup_weresittingdown Posted 16 October 2006 Posted 16 October 2006 Absolute legend this guy!!! He's right up there for me alongside lennon, muz and walsh. His commitment, heart and passion will never be forgotten!!! Dont seem to make em like that anymore. One of my fave memories of tags was when he scored 2 in a home game........cant remember who against....possibly southampton or someone like that. For the rest of the game whenever we had a corner the whole kop was singing - 'gerrys on a hattrick, gerrys on a hattrick a la la la...ooooo.....a la la la ooooo!!! CLASSIC
Foxello Posted 16 October 2006 Posted 16 October 2006 Legend. Absolute Legend. One of the best we've ever had. Dont know why Micky Adams got rid.
Ultra Posted 16 October 2006 Posted 16 October 2006 Adams used him as a scapegoat for some bad results.. Although his form that season (03-04) wasn't the best, it was still a sad way for his time with us to end.

Louise Posted 16 October 2006 Posted 16 October 2006 Yeah i think another reason was the arrival of Dabizas. Would rather have had Gez personally Don't forget he flicked the v's at Adams in the 4-4 game at Spurs.
Ultra Posted 16 October 2006 Posted 16 October 2006 ..and also kicked off with him in the dressing room. A sad end to a distinguished career with us..
