knightonfox Posted 16 October 2006 Posted 16 October 2006 With all the chat on here recently about the lack of atmosphere at our crisp bowl, was wondering what stands out as peoples best memories of city fans being at their most vocal. Would have to say at filbo that a match against leeds stands out, shortly after o'Neill took us up. Remember we one 1-0 and Hasselbank missed late penalty infront of the kop. Crazy corner and whole kop was vocal all game and leicestershire cricket team paraded their championship trophy at half time which wound leeds fans up. Remember them serging forward and trying to get at city fans which in turn made us louder all second half. Also Arsenal 3-3 stands out as fantastic backing form kop in those last 10 minutes and wild celebrations when walsh hit the third. Remember vividly surging down the steps in the crazy corner and ending up 2 rows from the front. At walkers would probably say the southampton game on opening day of premiership. Was in the kop for that game and cant remeber them being that loud since. Wolves game a couple of years ago also stands out. Rember kop and east stand singing for about 15 minutes non-stop for a period in the second half. favourite away game would be wimbledon in coca-cola semi's. We took about 7,000 and went mental when grayson scored to make it 1-1. Half of city support stood for whole game and were incredibly loud all night. Think we seem to be louder when more of us stand up, like at birmingham a couple of weeks ago.
Tommeh Posted 16 October 2006 Posted 16 October 2006 Arsenal 3-3 at filbo stands out for me! Night games always seem to be better for atmosphere though... lets hope Stoke can be good in 2 weeks!!
Unit Posted 16 October 2006 Posted 16 October 2006 in recent recent history the spurs game was ace, + pompey on the last day in the prem when we beat them 3-1
Poakey Posted 16 October 2006 Posted 16 October 2006 V Cambridge Utd 5-0 in 92(i think)playoff semi at filbo stands out in my mind,Lovely sunny evening atmosphere was electric.
Ultra Posted 16 October 2006 Posted 16 October 2006 At walkers would probably say the southampton game on opening day of premiership. Was in the kop for that game and cant remeber them being that loud since. What about the second half of the Arsenal game? The Kop went mental when Hignett equalised!
ithuriel Posted 16 October 2006 Posted 16 October 2006 the night we beat tranmere to make the play-offs vs' derby.
Tommeh Posted 16 October 2006 Posted 16 October 2006 Agreed deffo spurs has been the best at the walkers at least
Fez of Mahrez Posted 16 October 2006 Posted 16 October 2006 Watford first game at the Walkers was loud. At Filbo - Cambridge 5-0, Atletico Madrid, Arsenal 3-3 of the games I went to. Possibly loudest of all listening on the radio was the Man Utd game in which we were relegated. The commentators could barely make themselves heard above the constant wall of sound from the Leicester fans.
Head Honcho Posted 16 October 2006 Posted 16 October 2006 Leicester v Leeds 4th rd League Cup 1-0 down after 17 minutes 1-1 after 88 minutes super Muzzy Izzet Parker penalty in the last minute to beat them 2-1 Quality night out also Shrewsbury in FA Cup 1981 5-2 three keepers brilliant
Bert Posted 16 October 2006 Posted 16 October 2006 If i remember correctly we was actually recorded as the loudest fans in the league at one point and i think it was in the 4-2 home defeat by Chelsea.
Ultra Posted 16 October 2006 Posted 16 October 2006 If i remember correctly we was actually recorded as the loudest fans in the league at one point and i think it was in the 4-2 home defeat by Chelsea. Yep - 98-99.
hairy Posted 16 October 2006 Posted 16 October 2006 Loudest one I remember attending was Wimbledon away second leg of the Worthington Cup. Grayson scored they equalised but we went through on away goals after extra time. The ITV box was hung from the rafters just above us and Big ron complained how loud we were all night. One of those matches when we sang from start to finish. But then there was Madrid at home when the ref sent Gary Parker off for no good reason. The reaction from the crowd was very load. Those were the days........
Ultra Posted 16 October 2006 Posted 16 October 2006 V Cambridge Utd 5-0 in 92(i think)playoff semi at filbo stands out in my mind,Lovely sunny evening atmosphere was electric. The fans could be heard on the other side of Leicester that night! That season, the first under Brian Little, was one of the best we've ever had for atmosphere. The Kop seemed VERY loud that year, especially in night matches. And the old main stand (seating AND standing) gave them decent backing!
gatesheadfox Posted 17 October 2006 Posted 17 October 2006 in recent memory millwall in our last promotion season still stands out as a cracker, and that was with no away fans
I_miss_wembley_finals Posted 17 October 2006 Posted 17 October 2006 I'd have to go for Sunderland away in the League Cup semi, with Cottee bagging 2 goals, got into the groud bang on kick off (thanks to those fox travel lot or whatever they're called), was sat on the very back row, the steward didn't think the seats went back that far! but the atmosphere was amazing, goes down as my favourite ever game, beating the Wembley trips....although not for importance of course!
Wils Posted 17 October 2006 Posted 17 October 2006 Away at Charlton was a great atmosphere in the FA cup. As for home atmosphere not sure what the best has been in last few years...
DannyLCFC1 Posted 17 October 2006 Posted 17 October 2006 V Cambridge Utd 5-0 in 92(i think)playoff semi at filbo stands out in my mind,Lovely sunny evening atmosphere was electric. The cambridge game stands out for me first leicester game i watched Never forget when we beat derby at wembley atmosphere was great
DanTheFoxBhoy Posted 17 October 2006 Posted 17 October 2006 Was just checking out clips of different clubs' fans going nuts at matches on YouTube... I can't find any City ones! What's the go fellas?
gatesheadfox Posted 17 October 2006 Posted 17 October 2006 Was just checking out clips of different clubs' fans going nuts at matches on YouTube... I can't find any City ones! What's the go fellas? with going nuts myself, i don't tend to think to video it. the charlton away game in the fa cup i was on match on the day going absolutely mental jumping about the place with some choice jestures.....classy
London_Fox Posted 17 October 2006 Posted 17 October 2006 The United match when we got relegated still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up, that was unbelievable and at the hardest time as well...still tell people about it today. Atletico and Red Star Belgrade were both amazing nights. Still remember Little's return as one of the most hostile evenings in recent years.

Oh yeah that man utd game was awsome when everyone stood up in the ground, even the poor man on his stick who sat next to me stood up
