eaststandtom Posted 17 October 2006 Posted 17 October 2006 the night we beat tranmere to make the play-offs vs' derby. how about when kevin rooster russell scored a late winner to beat tranmere in 91-92 to ensure we were in the play offs?
Lester LXXIV Posted 17 October 2006 Posted 17 October 2006 V Cambridge Utd 5-0 in 92(i think)playoff semi at filbo stands out in my mind,Lovely sunny evening atmosphere was electric. This was mine too! Fantastic evening! Oooh Tommy Wright! Oooh Tommy Wright!
Fox in a Box Posted 17 October 2006 Posted 17 October 2006 CHelsea in the cup was actually record as the loudest ever game at filbo
Ultra Posted 17 October 2006 Posted 17 October 2006 CHelsea in the cup was actually record as the loudest ever game at filbo No, it was Chelsea in the league, 98-99.
Fox in a Box Posted 17 October 2006 Posted 17 October 2006 No, it was Chelsea in the league, 98-99. I stand corrected on this..... at least someone else knew
MONreborn Posted 17 October 2006 Posted 17 October 2006 From what i have witnessed: The united game when we got relegated That leeds match The man city match with the missed pentalty by THE DICKov The crystal palace match last season at home was also a good atmosphere. But I think the United match wins hands down, "stand up of you love leicester" even the carling stand stood up it was amzing, I think even the directors were standing up, immense suport.
martyn Posted 17 October 2006 Posted 17 October 2006 The tranmere home match to ensure playoff qualification where rooster scored is a great shout - my sister (4 years old at the time) came to this match and left in tears it was so loud.
Sooper Steve's shin Posted 17 October 2006 Posted 17 October 2006 Most of my favourites have been mentioned: (1) Athletico Madrid at Filbert Street under Martin O'Neill was the best atmosphere I've ever experienced at a Leicester game. There was a constant buzz throughout the match - people often say the atmosphere's "electric" and after that night I knew what they meant. (2) Cambridge in the play-offs. Unbelievable. Cambridge were a tough side that year (probably their peak) and I thought we'd done well to draw at their place. We thought it would be tight at home - then everyone went loopy as we turned them over 5-0! I remember being in the top tier of the double decker, running down the steps to the front after we scored the fifth. Fantastic. (3) Man Utd when we got relegated. As someone said on here, it was a wall of sound for the last half hour. (4) Wimbledon away, League Cup semi. I don't get to that many away games, but so glad I made this trip. Constant noise, battling in, great journey home. (5) Red Star at home. Another UEFA Cup tie, I loved the Red Star fans' flares before the game - I'd never seen that at Filbert Street before (or since). Couldn't see the pitch for the first 10 minutes and I think they scored early on because of it. Ah, the memories. This is why we keep going every other week despite what has been served up for us most of this season.
FNQ Posted 17 October 2006 Posted 17 October 2006 Possibly loudest of all listening on the radio was the Man Utd game in which we were relegated. The commentators could barely make themselves heard above the constant wall of sound from the Leicester fans. The day the Carling stand rose. Totally agree. So proud of us that day. Fantastic.
Solihullfox Posted 17 October 2006 Posted 17 October 2006 The day the Carling stand rose. Totally agree. So proud of us that day. Fantastic. Amazing noise and for so long. Paul Hayward, sports editor for the Sunday Telegraph wrote a superb piece saying what a hair raising experience it was, even as a journo and a neutral. Biggest noise I've heard was when we scored the third goal agaainst Swindon in the play off final. The noise grew and grew as we went up the pitch and by the time the ball got to Steve Thompson it was unbelieveable.

Fez of Mahrez Posted 17 October 2006 Posted 17 October 2006 Also remember the last day of the season at Filbo one year when we sang Brian Littles Blue And White Army non-stop for about 15 minutes. May have been against Newcastle?? I can't remember exactly, sadly.
ithuriel Posted 17 October 2006 Posted 17 October 2006 one match i didnt mention but i remember two fans feinting in either pen three or four. vs' derby when greavsie was there for central sports special that evening. it ended three all with a roberts hat-trick. still remember the ," he's fat , he's round , he bounces along the ground , jimmy greaves , jimmy greaves." the derby keeper during the warm up twice accidentally had his practice ball go into the kop and the boys wouldnt give him the balls back
davieG Posted 17 October 2006 Posted 17 October 2006 Filbert St 1963 37000 in the ground me and a few thousand locked out listening to us beating Man U 4-3 Keyworth & Law hat-tricks. the loudest most exciting game I never saw . Walkers - first game against Watford never been the same since, everyone including the West Stand joined in.
