Stuliasz Posted 15 December 2004 Posted 15 December 2004 Reports north of the border continue to link Boston striker Andy Kirk with a move to Leicester City. The lively hit-man has hit 11 goals this term and has reportedly caught the attention of new Foxes chief Craig Levein. Kirk played under Levein at Hearts, before his move to York Street, and is now thought to be ready for a crack at Championship football. The Boston favourite has already received international recognition this season, winning four caps for a new-look Northern Ireland under Lawrie Sanchez's tenure. Levein is keen to bolster his strikeforce as The Foxes have struggled to mount the promotion push anticipated at the start of the campaign.
shen Posted 15 December 2004 Posted 15 December 2004 sounds promising... anything to get us more goals I'd say! Can't say I've seen anything of Kirk, but well done getting caps in League 1 albeit for NI
Alexikokopops Posted 15 December 2004 Posted 15 December 2004 Boston are in League 2. And they're bastards. Not a bad goal tally since he did spent the beginning of the season injured, for over a month or so. I haven't seen him play either, cus he was injured when Lincoln played Boston (local derby, gotta watch ) in September.
Scarby Posted 15 December 2004 Posted 15 December 2004 Why would we go for another lower league plyer after the hype of them. Look what happened to bloody Jnr Lewis and Kev Ellison whowe signed frm Aldershot if i recall and was quoted to have said that he has a\shot like a thunderbolt, did we ever see this no because the bugger never player! Why go for Kirk who isnt proven at a higher level when tommy wright and trev benjiman want a game. This club is beyond me at times.
Mad Dog Posted 15 December 2004 Posted 15 December 2004 Great argument poindexter, but look at Savage, Lennon or Elliott who we signed from the lower leagues.

However, there's one incident that'll stick in my mind whenever I think of Kev Ellison. Lincoln had a free kick from about 35 yards out, and the opposition had a one man wall. Ellison hoofed the free-kick, and managed to hit the one man wall at about shin height. Possibly the worst free-kick I've ever seen.
Jonesy_rules Posted 15 December 2004 Posted 15 December 2004 don't know anything about the lad! i agree wtith the Benji and Wright comment, however if he played and got us promoted say with a last minute goal, wouldn't we all worship him? it's just paper talk at the mo.
Alexikokopops Posted 15 December 2004 Posted 15 December 2004 Lincoln play Boston on New Years day, and since it's the local derby, I'll be going, so I'll see how he plays then.

Ricey Posted 15 December 2004 Posted 15 December 2004 Living locally I've hear dabout this player but I just think it's Sky Sports linking us to him just because he is doing well and he used to play under Levein.
Highland Posted 15 December 2004 Posted 15 December 2004 Like Benjamin banged them in for Cambridge OK.Then came here......
Scow Posted 15 December 2004 Posted 15 December 2004 Is he a Levein reject? If he is, then I don't think he would interested in a player who couldn't cut it at Hearts.... I'm just assuming here as I don't know anything about the player. I wonder if one of our resident Hearts fans can confirm this?

Hearts fans were particularly annoyed to see him and Scott Severin bugger off. Boston are rumoured to be paying him in the region of 3.5 grand a week and Hearts couldn't compete. That should give you an idea of the constraints Levein has been faced with.

Unfortunatly he was dogged with injuries and never quite produced his potential. Im sure if we had the money we would have held on to Kirk but Levein had to slash the wage bill. Kirk was a good goalscorer, a penalty box player and if he stayed out of injury im sure he could score a lot of goals in a season. Im sure Andy could play at a higher level than League 2 and im pretty sure he could cut it in the Championship. Personally though, dont think Levein will go for him . P.S Hearts are in Europe tonight (the only Scottish team left) wish us luck <_<

I must be going soft in my old age!!
