lookwhaticando Posted 27 December 2006 Posted 27 December 2006 So you're saying we need more than the two front men pushing up alone to create the space we need for more direct scoring oppurtunities? If so I think I see what you mean now. That's Thracian's viewpoint in a couple of words - more attackers.
Ajax Treesdown Posted 27 December 2006 Posted 27 December 2006 Kelly is a good coach, but he will not be able to take this club any further. Even if Dowie can get us in the Prem, that might be the furthest for him. Then someone else will come in. This is the way MM works. Football these days, is cut-throat and managers will not last long at most jobs when they have done all they can. If Milan brings Dowie in, so be it!! I'll be happy with MM's decision.
He's not bald Posted 27 December 2006 Posted 27 December 2006 Well I wish he'd read a bit closer and get Andy King involved and I wish he'd read a bit more in the close season before he presented us with a side so woefully short of goals and backing for the attack. People have commented on whether we can maintain our run and most have stated that our lack of goals is the big problem. That was plainly obvious last July. For sure Hughes and Tiatto aren't going to conjure up many goals between them so King is the obvious next step. He would help provide Hammond and Hume with more space and Porter with more opportunity to be an attacker intstead of the improvised defender he being increasingly used as half the time. But whether he reads this or not Kelly will continue to use Hughes as a pretend right winger and, effectively, as a second harrasser when we only need - and can only afford - one. Until we get midfielders driving into the box we've no chance of seriously increasing our goals tally. Right now, apart from free kicks, we get two, plus occasionally Porter into the box. A good side needs six or even seven. At last somone I can agree with1
dog_4 Posted 27 December 2006 Posted 27 December 2006 Definately should stay. He has a squad of 20, which half of is full of reserve team players, low wage budget and is doing a good steady job. I'd rather have him then Ian Dowie .
Guest Posted 27 December 2006 Posted 27 December 2006 If I came on here, and constructively criticised the performance against what was, to be generous, an extremely poor Hull side, I would be classed as negative. If I was to do so following a defeat, I am jumping on a bandwagon. I wish you'd make your mind's up.
lcfc_jme Posted 28 December 2006 Posted 28 December 2006 I still think Kelly needs to go. Sure we're on a good run at the minute, morale is high and we're picking up points/climbing the league. I'm thrilled with it! But, as I said last week, it seems as though Kelly can only get us playing when we're faced with going down/a relegation scrap. It remains to be seen whether Kelly can carry us forward and further up the league. Until he proves he can pick results up for us consistently, cement us in the top half of the league well away from a relegation fight and show intentions on making a play-off push, I won't be convinced by him. (I know he won't be able to propel us to the play-offs this season and with the current squad, but I also know that since he has been in charge, we've only picked results up when we've been staring relegation in the face - which isn't good enough.)
Matt Posted 28 December 2006 Author Posted 28 December 2006 16th in the championship, I'm so happy. I don't condone calling for Kellys head, but he's just lost six in a row, he has alot to do before I believe he's the man to take this club forward. All those fans who think Kelly is fantastic after a few good results are just as bad as those who think he should be gone after a few bad ones IMO. He's just lost 6 in a row fair enough but end of September and all of October we went unbeaten that's 9 games unbeaten (Excluding the Carling Cup - Villa game) so wheres your point, I don't expect everyone saying Kelly is the best manager in the world because obviously he is not when we went 9 games unbeaten and a few of them were draws but a load of people jump on the Kelly bandwagon when he loses/draws a couple and wheres the praise when he wins a few? I admit Kelly had to learn ALOT and he needs to get abit more consistant form out of the team but I think certain fans need to look at how consistant there critisism is...
Chrysalis Posted 28 December 2006 Posted 28 December 2006 voted yes, a win doesnt change things, if he wins 4 or 5 in a row then maybe.
gosfox Posted 28 December 2006 Posted 28 December 2006 voted yes, a win doesnt change things, if he wins 4 or 5 in a row then maybe. surely, a very shortsighted view
Surreal Madrid Posted 28 December 2006 Posted 28 December 2006 Where does this come from? You make it sound like a fact....is it and how do you know? Barton's statements are always facts, like when he said Fryatt would be sold by the end of August....
Steven Posted 30 December 2006 Posted 30 December 2006 Same old, same old..... Today is also "Same old, same old....."
JoeyB Posted 30 December 2006 Posted 30 December 2006 boring like someone said earlier it seems like we've not even tried
Matt Posted 31 December 2006 Author Posted 31 December 2006 i dont want him out he seems to be doing the job now i think it was a case of getting near enough a full strength squad and got them playing right all we need now is hume, hamond and fryatt to start scoring regualy and we should shoot up the league (hopefully) As I suspected.... boring like someone said earlier it seems like we've not even tried TBH I don't care if people want Kelly Out or not, what I am bothered about is fickle fans, The point in this thread wasn't actually about Kelly Out the point I was making or trying to make is the way people change there minds so easy or jump on the bandwagon...My point has been proven in this example!
