Nigel Worthington Geroge Graham Does not sound too promising. So I would take Dowie over them. But I am sure to of fogot some. And people are soon getting the sack these days alot quicker. I've been saying George Graham should be given the job everytime a manager leaves our football club. My only worry is that he is a bit old school, with the likes or Bassett, Wilkinson etc. He would build a gritty team who play boring football. Sure we'd be hard to beat but would he be the answer long term? I think not. I see Dowie as being very much the same. If you look at what he did with Palace, he built his team around Andrew Johnson and he was the man that grabbed them goals. You have to ask yourself if that was a shrewd purchase or did he get lucky. My bag says he got lucky, looking at the aftermath thats been left at Chalton. If you assess Charltons squad, they have players we'd have onlt dreamed of having when we were in the Premier league. Darren Bent, Dennis Rohmadall, Jimmy Hasselbaink, Luke Young to name a few. They aren't a bad side. So why are they where they are? Altough I was somewhat bemused by the appointment of Pardew. Another not so great manager IMO. Alan Curbushley is another I'm not overkeen on. Why does everyone rave about him? My point here is anyway is Rob Kelly will stay at Leicester until the end of the season. He's got a 12 month contract and will basically do a similar job to what Blackwell did for Leeds. He'll never take us far but at the time he was the ideal man for the job. My personal bet is we'll do what Sunderland and Leeds have done and appoint an ex player as our next manager if Rob Kelly does not have his contract renewed. Could it be Jamie Redknapp? Who knows?

Both teams have won about 38/39% of their games in charge - although Worthington has managed twice as many games as Dowie has. Worthington is more experienced and has a similar Win ratio. Both managers *almost* kept their teams in the top flight that year - not just Dowie's Palace, remember. Worthington came closer when all is said and done. Dowie out - Worthington IN (unless a better option emerges, perhaps the charismatic if tactically flawed Keegan).

Frankly, though, if he's the answer I'd hate to know what the question is. Graham may have a sound enough win record, but has he won promotion? His last job was Tottenham (six years ago) - no promotion campaign there. Before that, the bulk of his record is at Arsenal. He certainly didn't achieve promotion there. The fact he's been out of management for six years should set the alarm bells ringing before we even start! Six months is one thing... six years out of management is a different kettle of fish. A very risky appointment at best.

Okay, decent with Oldham, I guess, but only really good with Palace. Bit crap at transfers. Kelly won't take us down this season, at the very least. We can replace him in the summer.
