The People's Hero Posted 15 January 2007 Posted 15 January 2007 I've very recently bought an xbox 360 and I love it!
IDEA OR IKEA Posted 15 January 2007 Posted 15 January 2007 I know its in anouther thread somewhere but if anyone wants to add me on live you can see what its like to play a developer and get destroyed (on all games except Tiger woods!):- Tag is 'Bruce Goose'

I've only just got my console. Gears of War seems pretty good. I really want CoD3 though. Is there much difference between CoD2 and CoD3? Might just buy the second one.
IDEA OR IKEA Posted 15 January 2007 Posted 15 January 2007 *cough* Wii *cough* Keep coughing - i play tested a Wii (all be it a development version - the controller was a bit battered) and thought that while its good on certain games and could be benefitial - on others it spoils the experience a bit and actually makes the games worse - or certainly no better. Really disapointed with responses on Call of Duty 3 and Red Steel - the drop in graphic power was not compensated by the 'novelty' value of the controller.
Phube Posted 15 January 2007 Posted 15 January 2007 This is because the 360 overheats. Apparently reading elsewhere it gets so hot it melts the solder on the circuits! M$ suck. There's a video on t'internet which shows someone actually frying an egg on the Heat Sink!!! Not sure where it is though!!

COD 3 is amazing graphically/sound but in my opinion (and most other people i spoke to) the actual gameplay is the same if not slightly worse than COD 2, which you could probabilly pick up on the cheap (£20ish) now. Plus there is alot of online players actually favouring COD2 than 3 and so i would go for COD 2 personally until COD 3 drops in price. The best online game of that nature though is Tom Clancys Advanced Warfighter - its amazing, can't wait for the second in March - now thats a game i would love to have invovement in.

But have you played the finished version of Wii Sports or Zelda. The next time you play any golf game it'll seem lame in comparison to Wii golf (and it's just a simple, basic take on the sport wait to Tiger's Wii Golf... should be fantastic!!) And Zelda just wouldn't be right without motion controls... now!

I could of done an omlette on the disk when i took it out, if it gets any colder out im thinking of putting a disk in in the morning on demo for a few hours and taking it to keep my hands warm!

They just need to keep producing the original titles like that because direct ports of games from other systems don't really work very well. Its like lets take the code, drum it down graphically and sound and think of a way to force the motion controller in! Phube - whats the online features like for the Wii - is there many players about / is it on 24 hours like they state!! PS Buy the PS3 when it comes out!

But the same goes for 360 and PS3 games: "Let's take an average 'last gen' game, keep it identical gameplay wise, and make the graphics and sound stunning!!" Neither option floats my boat... This is why first party titles invariably are better than third party titles... Edit: There is no 'on-line' option yet! Just the ability to swap messages and Mii's. It's coming later this Spring. I can't get a PS£ I've already got a mortgage!!!

Your right there - i actually think the industry is starting to take a bit of a backwards step - everyone is too excited about HD graphics, sound and the like and forgetting gameplay issues! Our design meetings and presentations have to impress clients graphically first, it does not matter about the gameplay. No-one wants to take risks - its not like lets release a new and original games, its lets release anouther world war 2 shooter or first person shooter! Oh i thought it was online already - it will be interesting to see the support for that when it does!

I'll probably have both ps3 and keep my xbox 360. I love how my xbox 360 streams the music on my pc. So quick to set up. Strange thing to comment on but I really love the controllers too. Think, I'll get CoD2... then if/when completed that CoD3... Thanks for the advice Haven't really got in to GoW yet... but even on my non-HDTV, it looks awesome and the response on it is really good. It's also a little bit spooky and atmospheric in parts (which I love) and then ridiculously chaotic and hectic in others. Definitely pleased with my (impulse) purchase.

Add my gamertag and we will have a blast on Gears of War when i am on next. I think its amazing and love the single player, but multi-player is where it excels - quick chaotic games are brilliant!

I also, still find myself having to remind myself of the controls at this point (the only FPS I've played for years are Red Faction/Red Faction 2 on PS2).

lookwhaticando Posted 15 January 2007 Posted 15 January 2007 I got mine for £218, and that's the premium version brand new!!!!!! Whose lorry did that fall off the back of? Or are you ignoring the fact that you paid a pretty penny travelling to the US to get it?

hairy Posted 15 January 2007 Posted 15 January 2007 'cept that MS don't even manufacture the unit. But they sublet the manufacture and are therefore responsible
lookwhaticando Posted 15 January 2007 Posted 15 January 2007 But they sublet the manufacture and are therefore responsible Well yeah, they outsource the manufacture. They do have their name on it, and they are ultimately responsible for the product (that's the deal). Thing is, the true blame for product failure lies with the true manufacturer, not the brand. The true manufacturer will have to shoulder some of the financial implications of the product going wrong - especially if litigation against the product is brought.
