Geo V Posted 29 January 2007 Posted 29 January 2007 Well hang on a minute, I think Thrac made a valid point in that we need to be more attacking. And it would make it very on edge to watch. I'd really like to see us just go for it sometimes. But 2-3-5 is unstructured and dangerous. If we win games 6-5 then thats fine but if we start losing 8-3 then... we have bigger problems than we started with. In my short time here Ive found Thracian to be quite an analytical person who leaves no stones unturned as usually spouts some decent stuff but that post must have been in jest?!! We need to get realistic and not even Spurs who tried playing 4-1-5 under Ardiles could manage success and they had quality players upfront like Klinsman, Barmby, Anderton and the rest! Ossie got sacked soon after that. Maybe thats the Thracians plan??
FrankieWorthoYaggedMyWife Posted 29 January 2007 Posted 29 January 2007 Young and hungry has been quietly diluted by a "Hard to beat" theory that is just not working and the sooner we get back to young, (fit) and hungry the better.Fit fast full-backs, forward-driving midfield players, forwards who live for goals and believe they're going to score em. And a bloody great injection of confidence and self-belief from the manager. There's an air of despondency creeping over City and there's neither reason for it no excuse for it. People think we can't put out an attacking team and I turned bhack to the old 2-3-5 system. and this is what turned out. Logan; Stearman, Sheehan/Tiatto; King, Kisnorbo, Hughes; Hammond, Hume, Fryatt, Dodds, Porter. It's just a very provocative thought at a time when we need some initiative. And there's seven or eight potential scorers in that side. I suppose I'd rather rely on scoring goals than any remote chance of our failing to concede them. Anyway that's not so much a proposal as food for thought and debate. It is based on the system which led Leicester to their greatest ever achievements. No, we don't have that quality of player - but nor do we face that quality of opposition, thankfully. Pretty much everyone employed this formation in the period Thrac is talking about! Abit xxtreme but in reality it was more of a 3-4-3 because your inside right and inside left dropped back when you were defending so it would actually line up more like Logan Stearman Kisnorbo Tiatto King Hume Dodds Hughes Hammond Fryatt Porter
lookwhaticando Posted 29 January 2007 Posted 29 January 2007 Our midfield is lightweight and goes missing all the time... So why bloody bother with one? Logan Stearman, McAuley, Kisnorbo, Tiatto Cadamarteri, Dodds, Hume, Hammond, Fryatt, Porter Safe.
Wils Posted 29 January 2007 Posted 29 January 2007 Our midfield is lightweight and goes missing all the time... So why bloody bother with one? Logan Stearman, McAuley, Kisnorbo, Tiatto Cadamarteri, Dodds, Hume, Hammond, Fryatt, Porter Safe. I like it. We need more attacking wise, goes without saying and Luton are a team we should really get at especially being at home.
lookwhaticando Posted 29 January 2007 Posted 29 January 2007 I like it. We need more attacking wise, goes without saying and Luton are a team we should really get at especially being at home. Especially as they've been wank for months. Mind you... so had Cardiff. I said it before and I'll say it again, we need three goals in the first half. Anything less and we're on edge all game.

I said it before and I'll say it again, we need three goals in the first half. Anything less and we're on edge all game. Exactly, all teams that are on shit form manage to get out of it and beat us. Your right, were never comfortable when in the lead ever.
FrankieWorthoYaggedMyWife Posted 29 January 2007 Posted 29 January 2007 I would personally, for what its worth, go with: Logan Stearman McAuley Kisnorbo Tiatto Hume Wesolowski Porter Hammond Fryatt Cadamarteri Subs: Johansson, Williams, Hughes, Dodds, Maybury
moseeds Posted 29 January 2007 Posted 29 January 2007 I agree, I made one change as Mattock is considered abit young!!! Logan McAuley Kisnorbo © Nisse Stearman Hughes King Tiatto Porter Fryatt Hume Subs: Gradel, Singh, Dodds, Williams/Wesolowski, Hammond I thought you were only 12?
Dr The Singh Posted 29 January 2007 Posted 29 January 2007 I thought you were only 12? You got the numbers the wrong way around, it's 21!!! Although some may say 12 is my mental age!!!

No, we don't have that quality of player - but nor do we face that quality of opposition, thankfully. That's not too far from the type of formation Chelsea currently play - 5-4-1 in disguise. When attacking Man U and Chelsea change to what Thracian said and then switch back to 5-4-1 when defending or under pressure (watch Evra running from left back to the opposition touchline again and again when Man U attack). The only problem is Thracian - Do the city players have the skill and brains to carry out your instructions/formation!?

Simi Posted 29 January 2007 Posted 29 January 2007 As we can't win with 11 players I think that's the most optimistic yet. Tiatto was supposed to be in midfield aswell not him or weso

Logan McAuley Kisnorbo © Nisse Stearman Hughes King Tiatto Porter Fryatt Hume Subs: Gradel, Singh, Dodds, Williams/Wesolowski, Hammond I'm not going to flag a flag any higher than Kelly's lifting it right now. But he is training with the first team and he is one big, strong, powerful 16-year-old. In fact if football doesn't do it for him he might make a decent bouncer.! There'd be no worries bringing him off the bench. I don't think he's that unlike Maybury except he's more obviously in your face and has no trouble hitting the front end of the pitch. Got some the skill to do it too. He'll take people on and can deliver a dangerous ball into the box.
Wils Posted 29 January 2007 Posted 29 January 2007 Tiatto was supposed to be in midfield aswell not him or weso You sure?
Simi Posted 29 January 2007 Posted 29 January 2007 You sure? Just about ! Tiatto battles hard and with him on for longer at Fulham we would have had a better chance. When he went off we lost alot of our bottle in midfield. If Williams is going to play and create we need Tiatto in there I think. I know its wrong to compensate that Willams doesn't work but I feel we need him in the team.

I don't doubt Mattocks ability, or any of the younger players as they haven't been tried or tested. Like most i'm sick and tired of the weekly sh*te the management, the team and individual performances they give to the fans!!! All season we've been discussing the same topics and comming out with similar conclusions, so much so, I added my name to the bench as I have as much of a chance of playing as the youngsters do, because RK is not willing to change!!!
He's not bald Posted 29 January 2007 Posted 29 January 2007 You sure? Can you please stop pissing about and come up with a final decision,RK's been checking all afternoon for his team on Saturday and Thracian keeps changing his dam mind!
davieG Posted 29 January 2007 Posted 29 January 2007 We're ok no team changes required effort is being doubled to ensure the illusive win we all need. Foxes Prepare For Battle Rob Kelly and his squad turned their attentions firmly to Luton Town when they returned to the Belvoir Drive training ground this morning (Monday). The Foxes go into the game on the back of a disappointing 3-2 defeat at the hands of Cardiff City - a result which leaves them just four points above the drop zone. And Kelly says that his side will be working doubly hard this week ahead of Saturday's vitally important contest against Mike Newell's Hatters. He said: "We know that we can and should do better - but they are just words. We have now got to focus on what we have got ahead of us, and that starts against Luton on Saturday. It's a very important game for us. "We have had a brief chat this morning, and there is a general feeling of frustration around the place. But we have now got to turn those frustrations into a positive as we strive to get three points this weekend. "It's an important game for both clubs. It's not going to determine the outcome of where everyone ends up, but it is another brick in that wall or nail in the coffin. "We have got 17 games to and we will be taking each of those individually - starting this Saturday. "We are four points above the relegation zone. That is a fact and we want to be higher. We need to now try and win as many of our remaining games as we possibly can."

We may be 4 points above now but I reckon it will be less come kick off on Saturday, and how many more times can you re-double an effort?

Wils Posted 29 January 2007 Posted 29 January 2007 Doubly Hard. Thats great for us fans to know,as long as there doing that weve got nothing to worry about. :pinch:
Thracian Posted 29 January 2007 Posted 29 January 2007 Now I know your taking the piss, thats not a formation it's suicide. I admit to a certain mischief in mentioning it but that was exactly the system which took one of the very best Manchester United teams I'd ever seen apart to the tune of 6-0 at Filbert Street - Law, Best, Charlton the lot. I just tinkered with it to see if I could get more pace at the back, more passing through the side and more goals potential. In truth I wouldn't risk it either. I doubt Sheehan is fit, Hammond is too wide, Hughes just doesn't compare to the genius that was Davie Gibson and there's a host of other problems, not least being completely alien to the modern mentality. Just leaves 4-3-3 for me with wing backs really which is only an in-match evolution of 3-4-3 anyway. But at least we would have some balance.
lookwhaticando Posted 29 January 2007 Posted 29 January 2007 Actually, Rob, my priority would be to cut the crap from the team. The wins will follow. Johnson OUT. McCarthy OUT.
