Leicester Lass Posted 8 February 2007 Posted 8 February 2007 Club To Trial New Singing Section Leicester City have agreed to trial a new 'Singing Section' at their upcoming home league game against local rivals Coventry City. The club were originally approached by a group of supporters who were keen to improve the matchday atmosphere inside the Walkers Stadium. And following a consultation process the idea was given the green light - and will be tried out for the first time when the Sky Blues are the visitors on Saturday, February 17. N Block, which is situated in the Marks Electrical Stand (North Stand), has been identified as the area of the stadium open for City fans to create additional atmosphere to support the players. A drum, which has been kindly provided by local Leicestershire company Premier Percussion, will also be given to the supporters to help their efforts in raising the noise levels. Fans are also being encouraged to bring back the City flags that were distributed at the start of the season to add colour. Match tickets will be available for purchase in this area until close of business on Friday February 16. Season ticket holders who wish to relocate to this area will be able to do so, providing they contact the Ticket Office before the February 16 deadline. A City Spokesman said: "There is a willingness from the Club to trial something new in a bid to help improve the atmosphere at the Walkers Stadium. "We were approached by a small group of supporters who wanted to make a difference and we were impressed by their attitudes towards a 'Singing Section'. We have therefore agreed to trial the concept for our next home game. "If the trial proves to be successful, we will be happy to extend the idea for further games this season and then potentially into next season. "Since the move to the Walkers Stadium, we have experienced similar problems to a number of other clubs who have moved into a new ground. Some fans have complained that the atmosphere is not as good as at the old stadium. "With the Kop and parts of the Alliance & Leicester Stand already reasonably established, the aim is to help develop an atmosphere across other areas as well. The Coventry game an important fixture for us, especially with it being a local derby as well, and if the fans can create a real atmosphere across the whole stadium then this can only help the team." City fan Jamie Treadwell, who along with a group of friends contacted the Club regarding the Singing Section concept, is delighted to have received the Club's approval for a trial. He added: "Its great news to be able to trial the idea at the Coventry game. A number of us wanted to do something different to try and improve the atmosphere and we are grateful to the Club for listening to us. It's down to us now to create the sort of atmosphere we all want at the Walkers Stadium." City fans wishing to sit in the Singing Section for the Coventry game are reminded that ticket sales will not be available on the day of the game - so purchases or relocations must be organized with the Ticket Office by Friday, February 16 at the latest. Fans can call into the ticket office in person, email [email protected] or call 0870 499 1884 to secure their seats for the match. Tickets are also available to purchase online - CLICK HERE for further details.
JadeFalcon Posted 8 February 2007 Posted 8 February 2007 thing is u cant force fans to chant if the team give us something to chant about then maybe... but you cant force an atmosphere or it will fail like the calling out of players surnames
Leicester Lass Posted 8 February 2007 Author Posted 8 February 2007 Yeah, a big well done to Jamie, Andy and the other lads. Let's hope it works out and I should be seeing you there hopefully.
Floating Fox Posted 8 February 2007 Posted 8 February 2007 I am a bit anoyed about them saying you cannot buy tickets on the day. Escpially As I enquired about it and they said people would be able to do so.
mat_j101 Posted 8 February 2007 Posted 8 February 2007 I think thats a pretty awesome idea. Hopefully it will add some real decent noise to the atmosphere.

Floating Fox Posted 8 February 2007 Posted 8 February 2007 Yeah but the only people that will buy tickets specifically in this area will be the ones that do want to sing for the whole game......hopefully Bang on. Just to add, the drum may, may not be used. We will see what it is like and how much noise it makes as well as if there is any metal at the back of the block
lildave3 Posted 8 February 2007 Posted 8 February 2007 Well done boys Andy, are you annoyed that despite it being your idea Jamie is getting all the credit?
Geo V Posted 8 February 2007 Posted 8 February 2007 Yeah, a big well done to Jamie, Andy and the other lads. Let's hope it works out and I should be seeing you there hopefully. Yeah well done to Jamie and the rest of the lads. I hope they stick to the task even if we are performing poorly and its down to the rest of the supporters to join in and not just sit back and shut up.
Floating Fox Posted 8 February 2007 Posted 8 February 2007 Well done boys Andy, are you annoyed that despite it being your idea Jamie is getting all the credit? No!! Jamie puts in just as much work in as me if not more. He's the one who speeks to the club and his speech at the meeting deserved some applause Apparently he didn't say any of that though
The People's Hero Posted 8 February 2007 Posted 8 February 2007 No!! Jamie puts in just as much work in as me if not more. He's the one who speeks to the club and his speech at the meeting deserved some applause Apparently he didn't say any of that though Oh dear. And so the LCFC manipulation begins.
Floating Fox Posted 8 February 2007 Posted 8 February 2007 Oh dear. And so the LCFC manipulation begins. Are you coming to the game in block N tph?
The People's Hero Posted 8 February 2007 Posted 8 February 2007 Are you coming to the game in block N tph? I should be up for a couple of games this month. I think for the first one, I have a ticket elsewhere.. but for the game on 24th (ish?) I'll be coming in the N Block mate!

The People's Hero Posted 8 February 2007 Posted 8 February 2007 Yeah - officially. But what's to stop you all congregating there for the following game, if it goes well?
Sods Posted 8 February 2007 Posted 8 February 2007 Yeah - officially. But what's to stop you all congregating there for the following game, if it goes well? Exactly what i will do, if its awesome than, i think some people will go their again the next week. Anyways well done Jamie and Andy Top geezers
Floating Fox Posted 8 February 2007 Posted 8 February 2007 Yeah - officially. But what's to stop you all congregating there for the following game, if it goes well? True. We could well do that, I'll look into it
Fox in a Box Posted 8 February 2007 Posted 8 February 2007 Have the fans in P1 been consulted on this? (foxestrust do you have an angle on this?) I fear a backlash from some families as they wont want to hear swearing...... swearing has been an issue in the KOP and stewards have been quite forceful at times. Im sure the family stand is for people wanting a quiter time and this will be like putting a wasp in a jar..... sorry L1 would have been more acceptable. I will be raising this with the Health and Safety officer this week.
Floating Fox Posted 8 February 2007 Posted 8 February 2007 The fact is. Many families have moved anyway. The under 8's is for anywhere in the ground. If the club had wanted to keep families in the Family stand then they wouldn't have done that. True they might not like the swearing but if they dont, and it's that much of an issue then why dont they just move. I'm sure you could fit all of the people in the family stand in 1 block. People that say I'm not moving because it's my seat and i enjoy it are pathetic, your in the walkers to watch and its the same from every position in the stadium. I can't see how you say the stewards are forcefull about swearing
shrood Posted 8 February 2007 Posted 8 February 2007 Good work lads...can't make cov but if it's gunna be continuing for following games I'll definitely move over I will be raising this with the Health and Safety officer this week. I hope this is some form of sarcasm
Floating Fox Posted 8 February 2007 Posted 8 February 2007 I hope this is some form of sarcasm I hope he was being sarcy to We have been told that we need to have a meeting with the H&S head anyway

I can't see how you say the stewards are forcefull about swearing Based on what experiences I have seen stewards being forceful towards people swearing in the KOP? If I pay for myseat I would not move for anyone. Maybe they should create a HOODY section , and a PRAWN sarny section??? or a BURBERRY AND S. Island section..
Head Honcho Posted 8 February 2007 Posted 8 February 2007 I'm impressed boy's ......................but in the words of Pvt James Frazer " It's doomed, doomed I tell yea" Well it must be, the club is involved with it Seriously though good luck lad's
Lord Nibblington Posted 8 February 2007 Posted 8 February 2007 The family stand is next to the Away fans. I hardly think that anything that the singing block comes up with will be any different to stuff the away fans have come up with.
