I hope he was being sarcy to :P

We have been told that we need to have a meeting with the H&S head anyway

Kevin Barclay! is the head of Health and Saftey ...................and No I'm not being sarcy!

Based on what experiences I have seen stewards being forceful towards people swearing in the KOP? If I pay for myseat I would not move for anyone.

Maybe they should create a HOODY section , and a PRAWN sarny section??? or a BURBERRY AND S. Island section..

:dunno:

I have never, ever seen anyone told off for swearing in the walkers - Even in the family stand.

Why would you not move your seat? is it because your stuburn or what becasue it doesn't make a difference what-so-ever where I sit. All i want to do is back the boys in blue and hopefully see them take 3 points home and that'll make me happy.

ffs...one of the reasons this is necessary is because the 'kop' is full of families who stare at you like youre mental when you try and start a song...yes it's good to get some young fans in blah blah blah but families can't control the whole of the bloody stadium

Well done Jamie and Andy.

Great idea, and I think the main congratulations point has to be actually floowing the idea through and doing something about it.

Hopefully it will receive the support it deserves and away teams will remember the Walkers for the good atmosphere in seasons to come.

The family stand is next to the Away fans. I hardly think that anything that the singing block comes up with will be any different to stuff the away fans have come up with.

totally agree. i have sat in family stand and there is just as much swearing in there as i have heard in kop. i have never seen anyone get told off for swearing in walkers.

well done lads

TBH I would prefer it if the family stand was in the South stand and those in the kop moved to the North stand. Would create a tremendous atmosphere for those who want it by wedging the away fans in between singing fans and the families would not be affected by the bad language etc because they would be up at the other end of the pitch where anyone who sits up there knows you can't hear whats being sung/chanted at the other end of the field. With the current set-up that is a huge problem as the kop and L1 seem to sing different songs at the same time because they can't hear the other very well.

I'm sure all the hiccups and minor misunderstandings will be amicably cleared up.

Andy, Jamie and the rest deserve a stack of credit for a cracking idea followed through to reality.

Now the job is to do all their efforts some justice.

Bang on.

Just to add, the drum may, may not be used. We will see what it is like and how much noise it makes as well as if there is any metal at the back of the block

Why?? What a waste that would be. It will get the place rocking, guaranteed. In the right hands ofcourse.

hello all. please do not make out that all family groups have a problem with swearing!! i sit in F1 with my kids, all of us being STH, we sat in block N for a couple of years before moving to the kop, it was the kids who wanted to move because it became boring and quiet in there!! i have had stewards ask me if i would like them to ask some people not to swear around us, but my answer is that i do not want them to say anything!!! because if i didnt want my kids to hear it i wouldnt take them!! however i do have rules for my kids, they are allowed to join in with the chant at goal kicks, but as they are only aged between 9 and 12 i do not think it is right that they are swearing there heads of all game!! they do join in with other songs but just leave out the swear words, apart from the odd slip, witch is quite funny seeing the faces if i hear them. i was thinking of moving for the cov game , but from what i have read on here then i do not think we will be welcome, all because i have kids with me. good luck with it, i think it is a good idea!!

no one can say your not welcome in any part of the ground, and it sounds like your kids like to sing along

That is a decision for yourself my freind! Some songs that i sing will have the odd word in it :whistle:

I feel a bit bad sometimes when i sing "get in to em" ................ and the like, but its the KOP! its how its supposed to be, and you know if you don't want to hear it you would not be there!

Come for the singing i remember when i was that age i knew the songs and what the words ment and to be honest i was like your kids every now and again testing the water, see if i could! more often than not i would get told but like you say you know what you know what your gettin when you enter that environment!

My rule was i could swear in the ground but once i left i couldn't repeat any words. Worked until i was about 12 too :P

From the Ultra website: "Andy Hunt: Re JR: Well if you come along to Block N it would be like an away fans block (the block for loyal supporters) and improve the atmosphere."

It's disappearing-up-the-arse, separatist & cliquey comments like this that will guarantee failure

Uh-oh.

Can only echo these sentiments.

Well done lads... but seriously, don't blow it

Completely agree although pointing that out on here and giving it elevated importance is probably more damaging than the comment itself (which looks to just be one throwaway comment amongst a great deal of very positive work and progress).

Nice work getting this section going - (new to the boards so excuse me if you hear lots). Now let's hear you get the singing loud enough so we can hear you on the World internet (bbc lesta) broadcasts and join in from home (well...ok...maybe not - but it would be good to hear you!)

Might I suggest your next plan of attack in manipulating the club??? Reduced ticket prices for the section and control over the ticketing process itself. Supporters club for the club I support in the States has 3 sections of lower level seats reserved only for use of the supporters club. Tickets are offered at a reduced rate and must be purchased through the supporters club. They've even been given their own ticket window to man at the stadium. http://www.screaming-eagles.com/ (check out the match day->ticketing link) Closest thing to some genuine football atmosphere I've seen this side of the pond. (sorry, I hate that phrase - promise never to use it in the future).

And of course only loyal supporters go to away games.
