Stronger Teams

You might think this is in the wrong forum, but this is slightly linked to LCFC.

There are about.. 10 :dunno: teams stronger than us in this league.

If we are going to push for promotion next year, who would you like to see leave this league?

Southampton have a great squad, along with Sunderland, West Brom and Birmingham.

If those teams are not promoted this year, surely they will be up there next season?

Im pretty confident our team will be strengthened in the summer, but do we need to stronger teams to leave the division, or will we be too strong for them?

Thoughts?

Move this is you wish

There are alot of strong teams in this league I agree but whoever goes up is going to replaced by teams like West Ham and Charlton. They both will be very strong next year. Over the past couple of years this league has become very strong. Regardless, it's going to be a hard league to get out of.

Can't really answer that, because we don't know what the team will be next season, or how they'll click

All those teams have great players, but it doesn't necessarily guarantee success.......

Todays Lecture:

“Aâ€Â; “A†is the first word in the dictionary and the first letter of the alphabet. Being first does not make it more significant than other words in the dictionary or more important than other letters of the alphabet. By itself, “A†is rather drab. The significant aspect of “A†is its interaction with others words and other alphabet letters to form meaning. Leaders know that being first is not always significant or relevant. What is important is the manner in which individuals join together to work as a meaningful team. (Scarnati and Scarnati, 2000)

Your right, but you've seen in the past how teams struggle in this league once they're relegated. Like Sunderland, they had a routine of losing last year, and it carried on into the start of this season until a new manager came in.

I personally think West Brom, Birmingham and Sunderland will go up, or at least I hpe they do because as you say they have very good squads. I don't see why next season we can't have a squad as good if not better than the teams up there now.

Worry about the three coming down from the Prem.

They'll all be mega rich and it will be hard to compete.

Its sensible to suggest promotion is out of our reach next season and we should give our new players the dreaded "time to gel" before making a serious challenge the season after.

Surely it doesn't matter as we're going up this season. Derby Leicester Play-off final.

...now back in the real world...

I don't buy into the "the teams coming down will be so rich they'll be unbeatable" thinking. The bottom of the premiership isn't that much better than than the top of the championship and the extra money isn't going to make that much difference IMO.

That's exactly why I've warned that no matter what money MM does or does not put in he might still face problems winning promotion.

It's a reason too why team spirit and stability will be important. MM has the reputation for changing things quickly if he's not satisfied but what if Kelly responds well with his greater options?

I didn't want Dowie here and I sure don't want another guy mentioned this morning, Mike Newell.

Kelly and Mandaric might even be good for each other as well as the club but the more I see the more I feel that Paul Ince would be the right option - if RK should falter.

What MM needs is to be sure that whoever's in charge has the ability to get his team really fit, to get the best out of them and to make them play well as a group.

It will be little things that make the difference in a tight race. Things like attitude, belief, confidence, consistency, bravery and nerve.

I honestly don't care who we have to play or not play. It will be our approach that is important.

We're not where we are just for the sake of it. :)

actually WBA are the only W.midlands side i've any time for. good luck to you, i just think the other teams have the momentum.

WBA are the best team in the league in my opinion and should defenatly go up, Brum are just a team full of forwards and will struggle with the losses of Dunn and Upson. And a Derby fan my dad knows said they are the flukiest team in football, their luck cannot go on forever and a playoff place would be realistic.

Sunderland are currently on a role so I'd say them and WBA for automatics and someone like Preston to sneak the playoffs winning the final v Derby making Billy Davies look a right twat

as for next season I think a playoff place for us would be fantastic but the competition will be just as tough next season. The only saving grace is that the teams that come down wont hang onto key players e.g Darren Bent - Charlton, Tevez - west ham

Out of any of these teams here, Derby, Southampton, West Brom, Birmingham, Sunderland, they will all do well next year because they have the financial backing and the players already. Sunderland could prove underdogs for me and stake a real claim for the league title next year. Assuming West Ham are relegated, they should very easily be promoted again with what they already have.

I just hope Derby stay down :(

Me too but I cant see that happening.

Derby and Brum have games in hand and can create a big gap. I think they will both claim the automatic possies and it will be one from WBA, Soton, Sunderland and Wolves (I reckon Cardiff and Preston wont make the play-offs). From Leicesters point of view I hope Sunderland go up as they`ll potentially give us more competition than the others next season if they stay down. I reckon WBA will lose the likes of Camara (already said he wants to go back to Italy) and Curtis Davies if they stay down. Also there forwards will be a year older and less effective next season (Hartson and Phillips). It may end up as a Midland clean sweep though and we aint one of them!:cry:
