Lineker's Left Foot Posted 28 February 2007 Share Posted 28 February 2007 I know how poor the charts generally are IMO, but years ago, songs getting to number 1 were usually much better on average than now. What is your fave song that reached upto the Top 5 and NEVER hit No. 1?? For me, I think Vienna by Ultravox not reaching Number 1 was a travesty!! davieG Posted 28 February 2007 Share Posted 28 February 2007 The Beatle's Penny Lane/Strawberry Fields Forever kept off the No 1 spot by Englebert's Please Release Me Would have been about their 13th (?) consecutive number one, mind you I think they managed 4 or 5 after that.
