Lineker's Left Foot Posted 28 February 2007 Posted 28 February 2007 I know how poor the charts generally are IMO, but years ago, songs getting to number 1 were usually much better on average than now. What is your fave song that reached upto the Top 5 and NEVER hit No. 1?? For me, I think Vienna by Ultravox not reaching Number 1 was a travesty!!

Lineker's Left Foot Posted 28 February 2007 Author Posted 28 February 2007 don't want to rub it in but what kept it from no. 1 Shaddapa Ya Face by Joe Dolce and Imagine by John Lennon Please tell me you favour the latter song
davieG Posted 28 February 2007 Posted 28 February 2007 The Beatle's Penny Lane/Strawberry Fields Forever kept off the No 1 spot by Englebert's Please Release Me Would have been about their 13th (?) consecutive number one, mind you I think they managed 4 or 5 after that.
dandannieldanok Posted 28 February 2007 Posted 28 February 2007 Wonderwall. Wow surprised that never made number 1, trusting that you are right I would have to agree.
Zingari Posted 1 March 2007 Posted 1 March 2007 Shaddapa Ya Face by Joe Dolce and Imagine by John Lennon Please tell me you favour the latter song sorry ; no can do shaddapa ya face was quite funny whereas i always found lennon to be insufferably hypocritical " imagine all the people sharing all the world" <_< yeah right
