davieG Posted 11 April 2007 Posted 11 April 2007 The Football Association has announced that Brazil will be England's first opponents at the newly rebuilt Wembley on 1st June. England have not played at Wembley in nearly seven years following Dietmar Hamann's strike gave Germany a European Championship qualifying win. With the first match at the rebuilt stadium set to be a showpiece event, no less than the 2002 World Cup winners Brazil will provide England's opposition. England have not played The Samba Boys since their 2002 World Cup meeting in the Far East with the last home game against the South Americans coming in May 2000. "We're delighted to be able to announce that Brazil will be the first team to take on England at the new Wembley," FA chief executive Brian Barwick told The FA's website. "It's a fantastic match to mark the team's return to the stadium after nearly seven years on the road around the country. "Brazil featured in some memorable matches at the old Wembley. I'm confident there will be many new memories created there for England fans over the coming years." England will have to be on their game against the skilful Brazilians as just five days later Steve McClaren's troops tackle Estonia in a crucial Euro 2008 qualifier.
Mort Posted 11 April 2007 Posted 11 April 2007 England V Brazil. This should be... er... ...good <_< Germany would have been better... then again the EU probably would have thrown a hissy-fit, wimps!
Brainy Posted 11 April 2007 Posted 11 April 2007 I noticed this. Surely we want to win our first game at Wembley

lildave3 Posted 11 April 2007 Posted 11 April 2007 Didn't we know this a few weeks back? Anyway, I think it's a good decision, bringing the most succesful country ever along to win the first match at Wembley... Unless we've bribed 'em so we win...
Guest Gist Posted 11 April 2007 Posted 11 April 2007 Should be a good match for those who attend. I'd love to go but doubt I'd get a ticket.
Geo V Posted 11 April 2007 Posted 11 April 2007 I`ll be going straight into the Brazilian end and will be eyeing up the lovely lasses . Wooooooooooo!
Sods Posted 11 April 2007 Posted 11 April 2007 Where do you get tickets, anyone? I can't find a link on the Wembley site. sign up to the fans thing on the fa and you will have a lot more chance of getting a ticket. https://secure.thefa.com/Register/ENG06/Int...n.aspx?ac=ENG06 costs though. Also when other england games come in the future you find out the ticket prices and get the chance to buy before the public.

Leonisco Posted 12 April 2007 Posted 12 April 2007 Excellent news, but I still think it should've been Scotland. Although I agree with apexgeo, you can't beat a bit of Brazilian totty!
