Wasyls Pec Deck Posted 17 April 2007 Posted 17 April 2007 When I mean sh*t I specifically mean simply beating the first man. I can't remember a City side (I'm only 20!) that was soooo dire at set pieces (excluding Joey and he was hit and miss!). Hume had a good effort saved against Derby, but in terms of delivery our service is awful. We've travelled a long way in the wrong direction since Martin's days.....

We don't seem to have done much physical exercise, we don't seem to have done much on set pieces that has sunk in, so what the bloody hell do they do in these "redoubled effort" sessions on the training ground?.
Joe. Posted 17 April 2007 Posted 17 April 2007 Well set pieces are a brilliant way of scoring goals. When we were in the premiership we got no end of goals from set pieces. We just don't have anybody good enough to consistently put in a decent ball. It's annoying because it isn't exactly difficult. <_<
FilboFox Posted 17 April 2007 Posted 17 April 2007 Whats even more disappointing is that we used to be really dangerous from them and big teams feared giving us set pieces!
davieG Posted 17 April 2007 Posted 17 April 2007 Set pieces? free kicks? we can't even take a productive throw in!

Thats what i pondered not so long ago,i mean with all the re doubling of efforts on the training ground i thought these guys would be quite fit. What rob must have meant was instead of doing fook all they doubled there efforts to a light training session
step Posted 17 April 2007 Posted 17 April 2007 Set pieces? free kicks? we can't even take a productive throw in! Set pieces? free kicks? productive throw in's? we cant even pass the ball

Bluefoxtim Posted 17 April 2007 Posted 17 April 2007 Not being able to take freekicks is the one thing in football that I can never understand. Kick the ball... not too hard?
FilboFox Posted 17 April 2007 Posted 17 April 2007 Not being able to take freekicks is the one thing in football that I can never understand.Kick the ball... not too hard? Is for our players obviously...

MC Prussian Posted 17 April 2007 Posted 17 April 2007 Set pieces? free kicks? we can't even take a productive throw in! We're probably the only team in the league to concede goals from throw-ins!
stulcfc Posted 17 April 2007 Posted 17 April 2007 I remember Arsene Wenger saying once that he thought we had the best setpieces in Europe how times have changed we probley have the worst now
Bluefoxtim Posted 17 April 2007 Posted 17 April 2007 Every corner is either headed away at the near post (couldn't we put a player in front of the defender?) or caught by the keeper.
FilboFox Posted 17 April 2007 Posted 17 April 2007 I remember Arsene Wenger saying once that he thought we had the best setpieces in Europe Wait till next season... we'll have the best again!
