50 Mile High

When I quit smoking I packed on weight like it was going out of fashion thanks to booze and a crap diet. No more. I started training every day, about seven/eight weeks ago. I do between 15 and 20 miles a day on average...using various pre-set sessions on the Kettler in my front room. I changed my diet a while back to eliminate the rubbish and gave up the booze two weeks ago.

When I say 'gave up', I didn't really ~ I simply chose to do something different. This mindset means I don't get cravings and makes all the difference.

My big Ebay sale was to buy me my new toy ~ and yesterday I bought a Lemond Alpe D'Huez.

I've just come back from my first 50 mile ride, Erdington - Nuneaton - Hinkley, and I'm buzzing with endorphins. So, there you go Phube - Lemond, the lowCal version of Disco Bob.

So have you lost abit of weight Dave, if so good on ya. I could do with sheading a few pounds myself.

That's the aim - I'm heading for my old fighting weight so that I can do the Etape section of Le Tour de France...a way away yet I think :D

I owe you about six pints Greg. Hurry up and get this mid-life crisis over with so we can go down the pub.

My mid-life crisis involved a shedload of cocaine, a bloke that used to shut people's fingers in filing cabinets for a living and a bevy of naked South American totty.

As a crisis went, it wasn't bad.

I was going to get a LeMond Harpic - but the seat meant it was a real pain in the arse and didn't stop squeeking once it was going...
