Ash Posted 31 January 2005 Posted 31 January 2005 Nottingham Forest have accepted an £8m offer from Tottenham Hotspur for duo Andy Reid and Michael Dawson. Forest's Chief Executive Mark Arthur told his club's official website: "We have reached an agreement with Tottenham with regard to the sales of Andy Reid and Michael Dawson and we expect the transfers to be completed later today. "Both players are understandably ambitious young men and are keen to play in the Premiership as soon as possible. "This represents a great opportunity for both of them and as a Club, we felt we could not stand in their way." He added: "The contributions of Andy and Michael to Nottingham Forest in recent years has been immense. "They have been with us since they were schoolboys and have developed into two of the finest young players in the country. We will watch their progress in the Premiership with both a great deal of interest and pride. "I would like to take this opportunity to thank them both for their efforts and wish them the very best of luck for the future." http://www.footballrumours.info/article.php?artid=5920 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The chances of them staying up are getting slimmer & slimmer
Collymore Posted 31 January 2005 Posted 31 January 2005 really pee's me off when clubs like spurs just do it the easy way and buy other clubs off spring. They should invest in their own youth setup not forrest's

Solihullfox Posted 31 January 2005 Posted 31 January 2005 Megson will probably kick himself. He's only gone and released ready made replacement talent in Podgers and Imps.
Bedford Fox Posted 31 January 2005 Posted 31 January 2005 ok it is better to produce home grown talent but i dont think any1 would complain if we had 8mil to splash out on them 2 talented youngsters
Who ate all the pies? Posted 31 January 2005 Posted 31 January 2005 This deal will probably keep them up though ...unfortunately, as now they have 8 mil to spend on players. Now they can strengthen all areas of their team. It's a crying shame

That money will stop them from going how we were 2 season ago. 1mil max will go on new players.
Who ate all the pies? Posted 31 January 2005 Posted 31 January 2005 It'll still save them! That's 1mil more than us aswell isn't it! Let's be honest they should be able to pick up enough players now to keep them in the division....starting with Moore from WBA!

shen Posted 31 January 2005 Posted 31 January 2005 its a great deal for Forest considering the market today..
Who ate all the pies? Posted 31 January 2005 Posted 31 January 2005 Yep they've done very well out of it wonder if they're at all interested in signing Makin for a small fee?
adz Posted 1 February 2005 Posted 1 February 2005 surely it wont keep them up, because the transfer window is now closed, correct me if i'm wrong
shen Posted 1 February 2005 Posted 1 February 2005 surely it wont keep them up, because the transfer window is now closed, correct me if i'm wrong 61536[/snapback] You are wrong. It's only closed for Premiership teams, but Football League teams can still transfer until sometime in March I think... although this is the last season they're exempt from the international transfer windows

It was argued that smaller clubs depended on selling homegrown taletn to survive and that the window would severely restrict their survival options. UEFA intially agreed to let them have a bigger window than the rest but now insist that they must follow all the other leagues in Europe..
Ric Flair Posted 1 February 2005 Posted 1 February 2005 Good bit of business by Forest to get £4 million a piece for them two. One is injury prone and the other has a nasty temper. I don't think these pair are worth that, they are both good players but not worth that in my opinion. Forest have gone on record saying that the money they get for these two won't be used to bring players in, they'll be lucky if they get any of it apparently. Hahahahaaaaaaaaa Cov or Forest or both? Please let this happen.
