Raj Posted 2 May 2007 Posted 2 May 2007 Ok...so the 'mighty' Chelsea have AGAIN been knocked out of the Champions League By Liverpool and look like relinqueshing the PremerShip to Man.U. BUT Who would say are the TOP 5 English CLUBS by way of history, trophys won,fan base, money etc... I don't mean going back to the 1900's when Huddersfield, Blackpool etc were regular FA cup winners but just going back to say 1960's onwards. I THINK mine would be Liverpool,Man U,Arsenal,Everton,Spurs.?????

Of course Spurs won the double in 61 and a UEFA CUP along with an FA Cup in the 80s but inbetween havent won that much. They are a big club but have only won the league cup in the last 20 odd years I think. Everton havent done much in the last 20 years either have they? I know they were good in the 80s but I cant remember them doing much over the last decade. I`d go for Liverpool, Man Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea (they have won more in the last 3 years than Everton and Spurs have done in the last 20) and cant think of a fourth!! Maybe it is Spurs by default???!

Sorry! mate its not that, its just difficult to pick a fair starting date from when to judge! It would make intersting reading if there was a list that had all clubs in Englands list of honours in order of trophies won to see who the top 5 would be. I`d go and compile the list myself but it may take about a month to do it

So why are Arsenal a big club when they haven't won it for a few years? Sorry, not picking Chelsea has just pissed me off. Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man Utd, Spurs
lookwhaticando Posted 2 May 2007 Posted 2 May 2007 Dunno. Apparently they were good in the sixties or something? I thought it was the 70s? 1870's....
DB11 Posted 3 May 2007 Posted 3 May 2007 I read something on Sky Sports before about Leicester being most successful for the past X amount of years if you take into account trophys won etc. I couldn't get my head round it either
