blue blood Posted 2 May 2007 Posted 2 May 2007 Is it just me or have others noticed new threads that are created recently seen to get like 10-20 replies and like 200-500 reads. Are the threads really not worth replying to or do we have a pandemic of 'ghosters'???? Mods, feel free to move thread if required

lookwhaticando Posted 2 May 2007 Posted 2 May 2007 A significant number of 'views' will be the bots of Google, MSN, Yahoo! and others doing the rounds in an attempt to seek out material for their search engines to... well, search. Further, a large number of 'views' actually come from the small group of people who actively post. Some people tend to read the new replies as soon as they are posted - in which case they could 'view' the topic several times in a short space of time. Others tend to post their thoughts and come back later when there's more than just a couple of new replies... their foot-print in the view count is very low, they view a topic a couple of times a week not a couple of times an hour. While the ratio of posts to views is typically low, the participation rate isn't similarly low, it's actually much higher than the numbers may suggest.

I think the standard of the threads have gone down since this forum let the foreigners in like Apexgeo. Not only is he Greek Cypriot but has lived in London for over a decade which makes him a cockney. He comes on here and talks shite with his lame threads and after a day they just dissapear. People like him should go home.

Rincewind Posted 3 May 2007 Posted 3 May 2007 I'm surprised I actually bother replying to some threads. It's like a disease and I can't stop myself. Not all threads are replied to in abundance. I started one a couple of days ago. 99 views 0 replies. Is this some sort of record?

I started one a couple of days ago. 99 views 0 replies. Is this some sort of record? If it is a record, it's a broken one. To save resources, the 'views' count is only updated every few hours, instead of every 'view'. That's why a topic may increase in the number of replies, but have no additional views over a given period.
BigGibbo Posted 3 May 2007 Posted 3 May 2007 yo awake foxes what are your views on what i wrote in the donkeys have almost gone check it out!
