Louise Posted 3 February 2005 Posted 3 February 2005 Levein was on RL just now confirming that we'll not be bringing Taylor back on loan this season. He thinks Walker is fit enough now.
Steven Posted 3 February 2005 Posted 3 February 2005 So will Taylor come back in the Summer or has CL got something else in mind.
Scow Posted 3 February 2005 Posted 3 February 2005 I was impressed with Taylor, but his kicking was always a liability. I feel much safer with Walker in goal.
Louise Posted 3 February 2005 Author Posted 3 February 2005 No Return For Taylor Craig Levein has confirmed that Stuart Taylor will not be returning to the Walkers Stadium on loan. The former England under 21 international spent a successful two months with the Foxes as cover for the injured Ian Walker - and conceded just eight goals in 10 Championship starts. Taylor was replaced in City's FA Cup fixtures by first Pressman and then the fit again Walker as the Gunners did not want their 'keeper to become cup-tied. Taylor's spell ended following Leicester's 2-0 victory over Gillingham a fortnight ago - and Levein has decided that following the addition of goalkeeper Lars Hirschfeld he will not be renewing the deal. He said: "Ian Walker is at the stage of his rehabilitation where he is fit enough to play. "I spoke to Arsenal on Wednesday and thanked them very much for the use of Stuart. It was good for him and it was certainly good for us. "But he won't be coming back. We will be using Ian Walker as our first team goalkeeper between now and the end of the season." http://www.lcfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/NewsD...~622390,00.html Not sure what that last bit means...

Walker may well leave and if I was Levein i'd be looking for a younger goalie, Stuart Taylor please.
Scow Posted 3 February 2005 Posted 3 February 2005 May seem unlikely, but Taylor could be in contention for a starting place at Arsenal now after the Man Utd game. Almunia and Lehmann have shown themselves to be too dodgy and don't command their box well. Although Taylor's kicking is generally woeful, at least he looks secure when he takes crosses and corners.

As for Walker I think Levein's waiting to see how he performs to see whether or not he'll offer him a new contract.
Anish Posted 3 February 2005 Posted 3 February 2005 I honestly don't think Taylor will get a chance at Arsenal despite Almunia and Lehmann being a joke in goal. Arsene Wenger has treated Taylor with contempt throughout his managerial reign at Arsenal and Taylor has never been one of Wenger's favourites. Everytime Arsenal have a goalkeeping problem Wenger always goes out and buys a foreigner rather than showing some faith in Taylor (e.g Manninger, Rami Shaaban, Almunia, Lehmann, and he has been linked with other foreign keepers like Carini).
Simon Posted 3 February 2005 Posted 3 February 2005 Yeah thats fair- I think it really annoys a certain section of Arsenal fans though!
Anish Posted 3 February 2005 Posted 3 February 2005 IT certainly has annoyed Bob Wilson from what he's said in his autobiography. Wilson and Wenger have clashed quite a few times regarding Stuart Taylor and his lack of opportunities at Arsenal.

"We've spoken to Arsenal so the ball's in their court now." I wouldn't have thought we would pull out of it if Arsenal were willing to let us have him again.
spirefox Posted 3 February 2005 Posted 3 February 2005 Whether he comes back in the summer or not I think Taylor did a great job for us.When he came we were going into freefall and he has played a big part in helping us turn things round.A big thanks to the big man
