Since when did it suddenly become OK to do the shuffle and stop style of penalty taking again?

I though FIFA and UEFA had ruled it out? :dunno:

Since TPH stumbled during his run up to take a penalty, much like Peter Devine. He regained composure, buried it and the ref disallowed it, prompting TPH to stage a protest and get the rules changed. Again.

Your allowed to shuffle as much as you want on your run up, just not allowed to pretend to kick the ball

That's not how it used to be, the run up had to be clean with no feints or hesitation, but that's when we had gentlemen like Billy Bremner, Nobby Stile, Ron Harris playing the game.

Ooops

I've seen so many over the last week that simply are (if not illegal) incredibly bad sportsmanship.

World Cup refs were instructed to prioritise them during the 2002 if my memory serves correctly.

It seems to have been so many recently that I became convinced I'd missed a change in the law...I'm going to hunt on the net

*walks off whistling with a serious expression* :D

It's double edged sword as well, the feint causes the goalie to go in the wrong direction and then if the penalty taker either misses, hits the wood work, or by some miracle the goalie manages a save it then gets retaken because the goalie's moved before the kick.

I don't believe the rules have changed it's just not a current media fad.

Whilst we're on the subject of rules what's happened to the obstruction rule, down a black hole by the looks of things.

I bet some of the younger posters on here have never seen obstruction penalised in the penalty area and certainly not when shuffling the ball out for a goal kick.

No, but by any chance is it an indirect "free-kick" in the area?

This is true.

I'ms surprised you assume I'd score the penalty though mate!

He just said you buried it.

I assume he meant you buried it in the ground, and attempted to grow a whole new set of balls.
