James. Posted 16 May 2007 Posted 16 May 2007 Downloaded the DJ Kicks compilation album that Hot Chip have put together - same series of mixes as those done by the likes of Nightmares on Wax, DJ Cam, etc. Really not heard that much by the group themselves but f**k me this compilation is quality! Get it. But this made me think - what's their own stuff like? If it's anything like the influences on this album suggests then I imagine it's pretty damn good.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 16 May 2007 Posted 16 May 2007 They are brilliant. Me and TPH are going to see them on July 21st at Somerset House. Both albums are fantastic. Coming On Strong is a bit more laidback and trippy whereas The Warning sounds harder, more polished and experimental.
James. Posted 17 May 2007 Author Posted 17 May 2007 Had a feeling you might respond! Cheers, will check them out. Somerset House is a sell out, I imagine it'll be rather good fun.
The People's Hero Posted 17 May 2007 Posted 17 May 2007 Laiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiid back. Laiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiid back. We'll give you laid back.
Leicfox Posted 17 May 2007 Posted 17 May 2007 Coming On Strong is poor imo and seems unfinished, but The Warning is decent and id have it in the top 6 albums of last year. Hot Chip are the new New Order.
The People's Hero Posted 17 May 2007 Posted 17 May 2007 We're also going to see Muse at Wembley. And don't tell Fez, but I'm considering forcing him to see Prince with me!
The Reverend Posted 17 May 2007 Posted 17 May 2007 Laiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiid back. Laiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiid back. We'll give you laid back. Tuuuuuuuuune!!! Hot chip arent your normal everyday sound, more like an aquired taste (or so they feel to me anyway), but nonetheless still great. The Warning is good. I like it.

Leicfox Posted 19 May 2007 Posted 19 May 2007 Where can I get hold of this, James? I've found it for you mate as i was looking too. Go to this site http://www.g2p.org/, and type Hot Chip into the search box, then click the albums on the right hand side, after that click GO. It will then bring up a link to Megaupload which just happens to be the album your after. Enjoy.

James. Posted 21 May 2007 Author Posted 21 May 2007 I love this album JTB, cheers for the heads up. My pleasure. This is brilliant. Yes indeed. You're next musical mission, should you choose to accept it, is to get hold of DJ Vadim - The Soundcatcher. I have read enough about your taste to know you will repeat above comment.

James. Posted 21 May 2007 Author Posted 21 May 2007 Haven't been able to get hold of Brainfreeze for love nor money though. I have a particular interest in ensuring good music is heard by those that will appreciate it and this album is quite special. PM me your address or something and I'll send a copy to you.
James. Posted 28 May 2007 Author Posted 28 May 2007 Currently more impressed by Coming on Strong although I need to give The Warning a proper listen. Listening to the former on the train on Saturday was a f**king pleasure. It was like liquid music or something, just flows along so well.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 22 June 2007 Posted 22 June 2007 :w00t: Hoping they show a fair bit of them on the BBC coverage of Glastonbury over the weekend.
The People's Hero Posted 22 June 2007 Posted 22 June 2007 This weekend? No mate... not till July 21st.
James. Posted 22 June 2007 Author Posted 22 June 2007 No mate... not till July 21st. Yes, if I had a memory/read the thread I would have known that. I am jealous.
The People's Hero Posted 22 June 2007 Posted 22 June 2007 Yes, if I had a memory/read the thread I would have known that.I am jealous. Might be a tout... hehe. Having said that - there probably won't.
