However, ever since he has been pushed up front he has been dreadful (barring a few exceptions) - he wins very few headers (and if he does win a header, more often than not it goes straight to the opposition), he offers no movement off the ball, he is painfully slow, and in recent games has looked completely disinterested.
Daz Posted 8 February 2005 Posted 8 February 2005 Walker 6 - did what he needed to. Maybury 6 - steady Stewart 5 - crossing is terrible Dabizas 4- thinks hes beckenbeur Heath 6 - worked hard but lacked class Gillespie 6 - starting to work harder for the team. Tiatto 5 - needs to get back to early season form Gudjonsson 3 - The worst distrubiton of any City player past or present ! Williams 5 - not the standard of recent games Connolly 7 - Worked hard but had to keep coming deep for the ball Scowcroft 4 - Touch is terrible

De Vries was immense. 64305[/snapback] Erm, not really. For his size and presence, he wasn't actually that good in the air. He used his strength well when the ball was played up to him, and displayed some nice touches, but he wasn't that effective. Although he did have a part to play in Gillespie's goal. Looking through this thread, I'm not the only to have given MDV a rating of 5.

I want him to start a game before i judge him, best do against Ipswich. His header at goal (or not) towards the end of the game was slightly worrying.

His size makes people automatically think he'll be good at heading when he's not. But as you can see he is very handy on the deck and was twice as good as Scowcroft was when he came on. Infact he did more in 2 minutes than Scowy did in 55 minutes. Scowcroft is crap at heading aswell and Dublin, it's a disease.
