S****horpe OS confirms they have recieved a 2.5million bid from Norwich.

Would be a good signing for them, we really need to get a decent striker, not too sure who it could be though :dunno: Todorov would seem the best option to us, if only MM had a bit more cash for transfer fees.

Earnie and Sharp up front? Sounds good.

Norwich City have made a bid for S****horpe United striker Billy Sharp.

United have confirmed the offer, which is reported to be worth £2.5million.

S****horpe have already turned down an approach from Sheffield Wednesday for the player.

Several clubs have expressed an interest in Sharp, though Preston North End say they have been priced out of a bid.

The 21-year-old finished as top scorer for United this season with 32 goals in all competitions, a new club record.

I would imagine Earnshaw will be leaving, sounds like it to me. http://www.pinkun.com/content/ncfc/story.a...3A09%3A17%3A313

Earnshaw dreaming of Premiership return

CHRIS LAKEY

Canaries star Robert Earnshaw says he is desperate to play top flight football again.

The 19-goal striker told a Welsh newspaper over the weekend that he would be lying if he didn't dream of being snapped up by a Premiership club this summer.

"I've got to be true to myself - I want to play in the Premiership," he said. "I think it's the perfect time for me at my age and I'm no different to anyone else - I want to play against the best."

Earnshaw's comments will alert any potential suitors, but will be a concern for City boss Peter Grant, who believes the Welsh striker's three-month injury absence was instrumental in the club's failure to make an impression on the Championship last season.

The 26-year-old scored 19 goals in 30 Championship game - including two as a sub - and has proved he can score in the Premiership, with a dozen goals in 22 starts during an ill-fated spell at West Brom.

However, City are in a position where they are not forced to sell, following the addition of Andrew and Sharon Turner - and a £2m interest free loan - to the club's board of directors last month.

If reports that City were ready to pay up to £2m for Crewe's Luke Varney, who chose instead to go to Charlton, are true, then it appears Grant may have some money to spend.

The News of the World was yesterday linking him with a bid of £2.5m for S****horpe striker Billy Sharp, although there will be plenty of competition, with Sheffield Wednesday, Preston and Wolves leading a whole host of Championship interest. But they will all have to be patient.

"It's great that clubs are interested, but for now I've had enough of it. I want to go on my holidays," he said.

Excuse me... but Norwich are bidding £2.5mil for a single player! :o ...Earnshaw must be off, i just cant see how else they'd manage to spend that kind of money and selling Earnshaw must be the only way they'd manage it IMHO... I'd like to see us go in for him, but at the same time i'd be very very nervous about investing that kind of money in a single player, on the plus side if Sharp is going for a fee in the region of £2.5mil, then i think a player like Eastwood (who could be good for us) will go for a fair amount less (perhaps the £1.5-2mil range)...

While we're on the subject of strikers, there are some bargins going as freebies!!!!

For some reason, i think Sharp will be a flop next season hmm...

I think he'll do ok... just dont think he'll be the world beater that some seem to assume he'll be. At the same time i think Varney's impact at Charlton could be interesting to watch... but i also think Eastwood could do a job for us, I'd have him down as being capable of 20+ goals with a decent squad behind him.

What the paper carefully omits is the fact that Norwich's parachute money has run out. That will set them back a lot more than £2m.

The only reason they'll have bid for Sharp is if another player (probably Earnshaw) is being sold.

I don't think we should consider trying to beat Norwich's bid, good player but it is a lot of money to risk on one player, especially since the lad has not played at this level before.

Are you Mickey Adams?

Agreed.

I'd rather go for half a dozen "lesser" signings (less than £500k) rather than a megabucks deal where the player could suffer an injury or a loss of form.

I think we should try and hijack any bid from Norwich. We could really do with this lad.

We need to get rid of Fryatt, Elvis, MDV, and Dodds

We can so easily bring in Eastwood, Cresswell, Sharp and possibly another. I would like to see Hume stay but if the money is right, goodbye.

Don’t forget we can probably sell half of the current squad, add that figure to the figure Milan has in mind and I think we should try and get every decent player on the market within reason.

That would still leave us with at least another £2m to find.

If we had £10m to play with it might be worth a go, but we won't.

In fact, I don't think Allen will spend £2m in total during the summer..

Allen maybe not, but Milan will probably be spending a greater sum of money much to your dislike.

Exactly! We shouldnt risk tying up a substantial amount of money in one player, let alone one who is unproven... if we had bags of cash, if we'd just come down like Charlton, Sheff Utd etc... then maybe, we have the cash to support such a risk, but even with MM we dont have that kinda margin for error.

We can bring in some very strong, useful players without spending much in fees as there are some good freebies this summer and there will be some similarly good players avalible on loan... but at the same time we should make sure that the players we do bring in for a fee, particularly for £1mil+ (and i dont think we stand to bring in more than one or two for that kind of money) are both decent long term investments and not likley to prove expensive flops.

We can't afford Sharp. I'm resigned to him going elsewhere now definitely.

We may be able to afford 2.5 million, but it's not just one position we need to cover. It's a whole team re-vamp. On thos grounds, I just don't think we'll be seeing him in a blue shirt next year

From Sky

Sheffield United are poised to pip neighbours Sheffield Wednesday to the signature of S****horpe striker Billy Sharp.

Last season's League One leading goalscorer has been pursued strongly by Wednesday, Wolves and Norwich but after talks with all of the interested parties, it would appear he has plumped for a return to Bramall Lane.

S****horpe had previously stated they would not sanction Sharp's departure for anything less than £2million, a fee that may surprise some Blades supporters, given that then United manager Neil Warnock sold the player for just £100,000 back in 2005.

United vice-chairman Terry Robinson has confirmed that a deal is close to being formalised for the life-long Blades supporter.

"Everything has been agreed, we just have to formally conclude the deal with S****horpe.

"I can't disclose the length of his contract or the transfer fee at this stage, but we will be making a statement in due course.

"The news has only come out because he's told Sheffield Wednesday he's not going there and we've had to make a brief announcement."
