Gené and Tonic Posted 21 June 2007 Posted 21 June 2007 They're losing players and staff by the dosen: Iwelumo - Charlton Garcia - About to go to Hull Greg Halford - Ok left middle of last year but they're bound to miss him. Mick Harford - About to move to QPR as a coach Cureton -Transfer listed, bound to leave Not exactly looking good for them is it?

They still have a bit of quality there anyway and it's early days yet. They will need to sign a new strikeforce though I imagine as it looks like Cureton won't be there next year and Iwelumo is already gone.
Lord Nibblington Posted 21 June 2007 Posted 21 June 2007 Cureton might stay, if they bring in some decent to replace Iwelumo. I think that was the main reason behind him wanting to be transfer listed. I think.

I think. Is it? I thought it was a bit of an odd one. Even so, they probably need to sign a striker or two even if Cureton stays. Let's wait and see who they sign. I think Coventry will struggle this time around.
Dames Posted 21 June 2007 Posted 21 June 2007 They won't hit the highs of last season but they won't go down.

Let's wait and see who they sign. I think Coventry will struggle this time around. Well, I remember reading something about him being unhappy about the club losing Iwelumo. Lack of ambition and so on. There's also the fact that I think he wants to move to a bigger club. But I'm fairly certain he said he wasn't happy about Iwelumo going.
The Reverend Posted 21 June 2007 Posted 21 June 2007 I think that Karl Duguid is a decent player for 'em. He is a good player. They'll stay up but wont hit the highs of last season. They overachieved last season.
dandannieldanok Posted 21 June 2007 Posted 21 June 2007 Strangely enough I think the departure of Mick Harford will be more costly than the likes of Cureton and Iwelumo.

I think. dont know if hes decent or not but they are after that qpr forward - ray jones! 2 bids rejected apparently
Ric Flair Posted 22 June 2007 Posted 22 June 2007 That Garcia has had a good season for them, will be interesting to see how he get's on at Hull. I wouldn't have minded us signing him, but I suppose we should be after better players than him now.
Ultra Posted 22 June 2007 Posted 22 June 2007 That club is in chaos at the moment. The building of their new stadium has hit snags, and it looks like they'll be stuck in their current shed for a while longer. No wonder players and staff are queuing up to leave, and there are virtually no funds with which to replace them. The spirit that lifted them to such unexpected success last season has virtually disappeared. It's a question of when, not if, Colchester will be relegated.
Asha Posted 23 June 2007 Posted 23 June 2007 I hope they dont...my girlfriend lives in essex and its another chance to see her if we going colchester away....hope they stay up especially that southend have gone now
Wils Posted 23 June 2007 Posted 23 June 2007 I cannot see them going down but they will definatly struggle. Lots of teams have done what they done last season and then flopped the following year.
city1993 Posted 24 June 2007 Posted 24 June 2007 I can see them doing a Luton, surprise first season, flirting with the play-offs. This season could be a telling one for them.
