Blue Bob Posted 5 July 2007 Posted 5 July 2007 In fairness, he is not the only one. You're right - he is not learning, but then none of them are. It's not difficult, is it!! I know he is not, I am still new on here, I made a few c*ck ups but I think I have learnt and think before I post something.
Kent Fox Posted 5 July 2007 Posted 5 July 2007 I know he is not, I am still new on here, I made a few c*ck ups but I think I have learnt and think before I post something. My sentiments exactamundo. Now if we can be sensible about it, why can't everyone?
Wezleylowski Posted 5 July 2007 Posted 5 July 2007 I am now by current standards a plank Posted a thread that had already been done, i am not amused
Kent Fox Posted 5 July 2007 Posted 5 July 2007 I am now by current standards a plank Posted a thread that had already been done, i am not amused Well, plank, let's hope it's a lesson learned
Blue Bob Posted 5 July 2007 Posted 5 July 2007 I am now by current standards a plank Posted a thread that had already been done, i am not amused I think you can only be considered a plank if you do this on a regular basis as a one off you should forgive yourself.
stez Posted 5 July 2007 Posted 5 July 2007 It's a bit like driving and getting stuck behind a learner, sure it's annoying but we were all learners once. voice of reason, as always.
Wezleylowski Posted 5 July 2007 Posted 5 July 2007 I think you can only be considered a plank if you do this on a regular basis as a one off you should forgive yourself. Not that I'm advertising being a Plank, but its exciting I feel like a freedom fighter
lookwhaticando Posted 5 July 2007 Posted 5 July 2007 Question for Admin : How many threads has LCFC2007 opened and how many have you closed? My guess they are the same number?? A large majority of them.
Nick Posted 5 July 2007 Posted 5 July 2007 There are some really good points and advice on the early pages of this thread. Thus said and bearing in mind it is generally the inexperienced newbie poster who causes the fallout, (though, admittedly in some cases persistently do not learn) would it be possible to create a new "terms and conditions" page with this advice listed on it in plain plank language, where by a new subscriber must read and agree with each individual statement/rule laid out on consecutively appearing pages, before being able to post? Also 20 posts required before new thread access granted. If we work on early intervention and prevention, this could prevent later recidivism. I have read this site for nearly a year before joining and have enjoyed the posts of those such as daggers. Is there a practical soloution to stop the entrenched members with valuable knowledge leaving and improve the general atmosphere of the site.....and it is a good site.

Your right, yes (smiling) though I was going for the 'appease everybody' approach rather than telling the old hands to be less precious..... bluntly but fairly put, Stez. -you say it how you see it. The People's Hero Posted 5 July 2007 Author Posted 5 July 2007 No one is getting precious about it - it's just been ridiculous recently.
stez Posted 5 July 2007 Posted 5 July 2007 No one is getting precious about it - it's just been ridiculous recently. then ignore it, like i suggested, it'll soon drop to page 2 or get picked up by a mod. simple
Milky Posted 5 July 2007 Posted 5 July 2007 Just after i first joined i was put on a "scheme" whereby anything i wanted to post was put on the site at the admins discretion. Everything went through the man at the top. It was in different circumstances to the current plank stuff mind, there are too many perhaps.
The People's Hero Posted 5 July 2007 Author Posted 5 July 2007 then ignore it, like i suggested, it'll soon drop to page 2 or get picked up by a mod. simple Well, that's pretty much what has happened and it hasn't transpired to be the case. There is so much of the guff that as soon as one thread drops down, there is another new one. Unless it improves, the place will lose members and foxestalk will be left with the morons who post made up rumours and old news whilst the posters worth keeping will be lost.

I'm guessing you're including yourself there?
The People's Hero Posted 5 July 2007 Author Posted 5 July 2007 I'm guessing you're including yourself there? I doubt if I'd be considered worth keeping. I'm a constant thorn in the side and you can't get rid of me that easily!

Some posters are indeed already on a scheme whereby a moderator must approve of their topics/posts before it becomes viewable by the general public. To expand this to all new users is complicated. It requires significant re-jigging of the user groups that are set at present.
stez Posted 5 July 2007 Posted 5 July 2007 I doubt if I'd be considered worth keeping.I'm a constant thorn in the side and you can't get rid of me that easily! and my god i've tried! i've deleted posts (contrary to the rulings of the non-existant inner circle's rulings) and everything!
