act smiley Posted 7 July 2007 Posted 7 July 2007 I think the thing that gets people worried is where he ended up after Anderlecht released him. Adds a little worry as to whether he "had" something rather than "has" something. I think writing him off cause he's not come from somewhere high profile is as absurd as thinking that a £10m player is better than a £5m player simply because of the cost, or because another team wanted them (just look at the amount of teams that bought Akinbiyi!) though.
Blue Bob Posted 7 July 2007 Posted 7 July 2007 Why have we got to spend money? Derby and Wolves have both spent money for years and got no where. Leeds to can be no better example of where we might be, we were lucky when we went into administration and seemed to get away with it very lightly. MM is a shrewd business man. He will not bankrupt himself but on the other hand he wants the rewards that you get from being in the premiership. Rest assured he wants to get us there. He has spent money Jimmy Nielson cost money as did Hossein Kaebi. And the season has not yet started, there are likely to be more signings on the way. MM knew he had to rebuild the squad, and has bought in a lot of free transfers, what he then couldnt get in on a free he will pay a fee for but the more he gets frees the more he gets to spend on two or three quality signings. I think it is great that he has so many contacts that help us get players in. Just because we havent heard of them doesnt mean they arent any good. Wait until they have played a bit of football for us and then judge them - you might be pleasantly suprised!!!
Tubes Posted 7 July 2007 Posted 7 July 2007 i saw on sky sports news a minute ago that n'gotty came for an undisclosed fee when i thought he also came on a free
Cobbo Posted 7 July 2007 Posted 7 July 2007 Ashov is back Ashov is back woooaaahh woooaaah. I've been impressed by our signings so far - in name alone. But I want a big money signing too, just for shits and giggles.
Lovejoy Posted 8 July 2007 Posted 8 July 2007 If we spend on a striker (most likely McLeod) and another midfielder maybe Clemence ( gone a bit quiet) with Hendrie on a free i reckon we'll be in a strongish position to start the season. Probably need a couple more backup players too.
Bryn Posted 8 July 2007 Posted 8 July 2007 Christ. Some of you wouldn't know optimism if it crawled up your urethra and died there.
RizLCFC Posted 12 July 2007 Posted 12 July 2007 ok guys, say we sign Stephen Clemence and DJ Campbell, apart from them two Kaebi and Hume does it really look like we have a quality squad, do you think we can get promoted, not into play offs but promotion, let's put it this way if we get in the play offs and then don't get promoted we would be pretty disappointed, so have we got it takes? personally i would say no, i still think Martin Allen and Milan mandaric need to work harder on the squad, we definately need 4/5 more signings, two of them should be Clem and DJ, but we need quality!!! I know am being a bit pesimistic but that's my view. the worrying thing is apart from Fowler, Clemence and DJ were not really linked with anyone else, Lisbie would deserve a 1 year contract, Hendrie is just taking the piss.
Unabomber Posted 12 July 2007 Posted 12 July 2007 I think near enough all of what you just said is scattered around in numerous threads that already exist.
