BartonFox Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 A sensational piece of skill that if Ronaldo or Ronaldinhio did would be played over and over again. If you have a link for it I would be most grateful
filbertway Posted 11 July 2007 Posted 11 July 2007 A sensational piece of skill that if Ronaldo or Ronaldinhio did would be played over and over again. If you have a link for it I would be most grateful Is that the one where he kind of turns and flicks it with the outside of his foot nutmegging the player, it looks quality if it's that one. Not that you would know what I mean with that description, which is probably very wrong

Milky Posted 11 July 2007 Posted 11 July 2007 I doubt he meant to nutmeg him, but full credit for the turn.
BartonFox Posted 11 July 2007 Author Posted 11 July 2007 I doubt he meant to nutmeg him, but full credit for the turn. No he did mean it as he was straight on to the ball after, had he fluked it there would have been a momentary pause for a combination of self appreciation and disbelief.
stez Posted 11 July 2007 Posted 11 July 2007 No he did mean it as he was straight on to the ball after, had he fluked it there would have been a momentary pause for a combination of self appreciation and disbelief. i think that clip used to be on the beginning of the 'showboat' feature on soccer am. i was sad to see the video fella via the links at the top didn't have it. i really hope someone has, because it was, indeed, class.
Guest Posted 11 July 2007 Posted 11 July 2007 Is it the one that was the top bit of skill in the Premiership Years for the 97-98 season? It was on the telly only last week. Not that you want or need to know that, as useless as it is.
Libertine Posted 11 July 2007 Posted 11 July 2007 I did that all the time when playing football as a kid. Worked every time, just about. Brilliant.
Jonbluefox9 Posted 12 July 2007 Posted 12 July 2007 Nothing to do with Guppy but does anyone remember Neil Lennon sitting on the ball for a second or two against Bradford at Filbert Street, O'Neill's last home game in charge? Wasn't skill but it took the piss. I loved it!
Fez of Mahrez Posted 12 July 2007 Posted 12 July 2007 Nothing to do with Guppy but does anyone remember Neil Lennon sitting on the ball for a second or two against Bradford at Filbert Street, O'Neill's last home game in charge? Wasn't skill but it took the piss. I loved it! Right in front of their fans as well.

Fez of Mahrez Posted 12 July 2007 Posted 12 July 2007 A classic moment! But wasn't it against Barnsley? Definitely Bradford. We won 3-0 (Cottee scored twice), they thought they were going to get relegated then they beat Liverpool 1-0 the following week to stay up.
Toby or not Toby Posted 12 July 2007 Posted 12 July 2007 Nothing to do with Guppy but does anyone remember Neil Lennon sitting on the ball for a second or two against Bradford at Filbert Street, O'Neill's last home game in charge? Wasn't skill but it took the piss. I loved it! Yes, i remeber that i was sat in the East Stand when he did it
sdb Posted 12 July 2007 Posted 12 July 2007 Definitely Bradford. We won 3-0 (Cottee scored twice), they thought they were going to get relegated then they beat Liverpool 1-0 the following week to stay up. i'm sure big Matty Elliott scored twice or am i thinking of another game??
Fez of Mahrez Posted 12 July 2007 Posted 12 July 2007 i'm sure big Matty Elliott scored twice or am i thinking of another game?? Oh yeah, looked it up, turns out it was Elliott who scored twice and Cottee got the other.
Jonbluefox9 Posted 12 July 2007 Posted 12 July 2007 Great day it was. Lovely weather, convincing win, last home game of the season and I think the players and coaching staff took the Worthington Cup around the pitch after the final whistle? I also remember Bradford's mascot. Their equivalent to Filbert Fox was some fat bloke in a bowler hat
BartonFox Posted 12 July 2007 Author Posted 12 July 2007 Oi this was a thread appreciating the skill of Steve Guppy, not Lennon sitting his ginger ring on a ball in front of a bunch of fat Yorkies So no one has that clip
