Fox in a Box Posted 14 July 2007 Posted 14 July 2007 2-0 Ok workout for kishy, Ngotty, Weso, Stears, Jimmy, Elvis and a DE VRIES .....whats going on I didnt recognise him hes lost about 2 stone. Elvis scored but generally was pith poor, De Vries on the other hand was fairly decent the second was scored by number 19, odihammertimebo a clear cut pen. Mattock was decent as was weso throught the game. Quorn did ok and with over 1,500 at a guess watching had value for money. Its only pre season so I dont really think they were at full tilt mind you MA still needs 2/3 I think before we can start looking like a top 8 side Nielsen 6 - no much really to worry about apart from flapping at a corner Chambers 8 - Solid play. N'Gotty 7 - Looks promising AC milan to Quorn lovely. Stearman 6 - Solid Mattock 8 - Solid play and outstanding Newton 6 - did ok Weso 8/9 - MOM looks back to his best after injury time to step up a gear WESO we need you forfill you potential. Kish 6 - experienced play but off the pace, he will get that back. Sheehan 6 - Had a few nice crosses, decent play. Hammond 5 - missed 2 sitters, scored and the crowd chanted 'de de de f**king useless' sums the day up for him really. De Vries 7 - I didnt recognise him hes lost about 2 stone looks like a different player, maybe MA should keep him after all.
Jonbluefox9 Posted 14 July 2007 Posted 14 July 2007 Starting 11 Nielsen Mattock Stearman N'Gotty J. Chambers Sheehan Wesolowski Kishishev Newton Hammond De Vries Finishing 11 Douglas O'Neill (I think) Magunda Garner Kee A. Chambers Morfaw King ???? (One of the new scholars I think) Cort Odhiambo Another player came on for about 15 minutes but was substituted. Played up front but not too sure who he was. Odhiambo scored the penalty.

We've got more youngsters than i thought,
Guest Electric Yetis Posted 14 July 2007 Posted 14 July 2007 I'm sure King was playing in the Oadby match. And where was Sappleton?
Jonbluefox9 Posted 14 July 2007 Posted 14 July 2007 We've got more youngsters than i thought, Kee is a definite first year scholar and I think O'Neill is too (the player just called up by England). I'm sure the other lad is too but he may still be an under 16. Garner played a lot of games at centre back for the under 18s last season and did fairly well so not too surprised he was given a run out for 15-20 minutes. The first three aren't likely to be anywhere near the first team this season in all honesty.
Jonbluefox9 Posted 14 July 2007 Posted 14 July 2007 I'm sure King was playing in the Oadby match. And where was Sappleton? Well he was definitely playing at Quorn. I don't know where Sappleton was. I've seen him at training so I'm pretty sure he wasn't the substitute that got substituted.
Parsons Posted 14 July 2007 Posted 14 July 2007 who was the ginger lad, i thought he had a good game Carl Cort had a very good game aswel no sure about De Vries thought... i thought he was still s**t
FleckneyFox Posted 14 July 2007 Posted 14 July 2007 Was Sappleton wearing No. 14 at Oadby because there was a black lad up front who i didnt know it couldve been him if it was he was crap never got into the game
Jonbluefox9 Posted 14 July 2007 Posted 14 July 2007 who was the ginger lad, i thought he had a good gameCarl Cort had a very good game aswel no sure about De Vries thought... i thought he was still s**t He's the lad I'm unsure about. Came on at right back then pushed on to right midfield after a while. I've seen him play for the under 16s but don't know what he's called. Looked good but needs a bit of a growth spurt which will probably come soon.
dandannieldanok Posted 14 July 2007 Posted 14 July 2007 Nielsen looks like he oculd be a nerve-jangler. Made an absolute hash of a corner that he probably didn't need to involve himself with. Other than that Quorn never tested him or Rab.
Teeno Posted 14 July 2007 Posted 14 July 2007 Was impressed with both starting and finsihing teams today. Weso, stearman and kishishev really impressed. That young ginger lads first name is adam, not surse about his surname. He was in the same academy team my brother played in about 5 years back. Odihambo (sp) looked very promising as did chambers. Was a good day out, wasn't the most exciting game but we passed the ball about well and looked very fit.
dandannieldanok Posted 14 July 2007 Posted 14 July 2007 For me, our best players in the first XI were Weso, N'Gotty and Chambers. Our worst being Hammond and de Vries. In the second XI our best players were Odhiambo and Chambers IMO, Cort showed flashes our excellence and can finish which is something.
Jonbluefox9 Posted 14 July 2007 Posted 14 July 2007 I liked the fact that Stearman was talking all the time. He was even telling N'Gotty what to do. I feel he's happy to at last have been given a chance at centre back even though it was only a friendly and he didn't put a foot wrong really.
Toby or not Toby Posted 14 July 2007 Posted 14 July 2007 I liked the fact that Stearman was talking all the time. He was even telling N'Gotty what to do. I feel he's happy to at last have been given a chance at centre back even though it was only a friendly and he didn't put a foot wrong really. Lucky not to break his legs when he headed the ball in the first half and got tuck out, the referee gave nothing!
Thracian Posted 14 July 2007 Posted 14 July 2007 Some important things came out of today's friendlies. a) Bruno N'Gotty looks a kingpin in defence, the master of simple effectiveness. b) Richard Stearman had his best half for ages as his central defensive partner and the pair looked as if they'd been teamed together for years. He added much-needed pace and passing ability to that area and seemed to relish the job. c) He should be glad about that too because J. Chambers laid claim to the right back slot. He's a swift and well balanced defender who relishes getting forward and has the skill and athleticism to do so effectively. A real plus. d) Martin Allen has some interesting decisions to make because we have far more options than last year. Most eyecatching today; N'Gotty (Not a foot wrong. Simple but classy). J. Chambers (Looks a real find at right back. Quick and a good footballer). Max Gradel (Seems to be constantly able to make an impact and today was no different. A real threat with his shots and passes) Richard Stearman (Looked reborn at centre-back) ================================= Secondary praise: ============ Lee Cox (Another footballing right back who was always involved and always constructive) Hayes (Has pace and power but needs to deliver an end product) Wesolowski (Continuing where he left off last season...showing an air of authority) Kishishev (Genuine holding player. Strong, simple and competent. a midfield N'Gotty really.). Porter (Another assist and could have had two when his lobbed pass provided Fryatt with an excellent opportunity). Hammond (Much maligned but scored one, so nearly made two more and, as usual caused problems with his pace). Andy King was also quictly authorative when he came on second half at Quorn. The game had lost some momentum because of too many stoppages but he helped give it back some urgency. I think he delivered the shot from the edge of the box wihich produced the handball for Odhiambo's penalty. Ashley Chambers had moments too and Morfaw made a good impression showing both attitude and ability.
Toby or not Toby Posted 14 July 2007 Posted 14 July 2007 Adding to that, I was impressed on the whole with peoples fitness and mobility especially Kishishev!
Jonbluefox9 Posted 14 July 2007 Posted 14 July 2007 Adding to that, I was impressed on the whole with peoples fitness and mobility especially Kishishev! Yeah, for this stage of pre-season they all seemed in pretty decent shape and although the first teamers didn't play 90 minutes they were still looking fresh when they were pulled off. I think today has been a useful exercise even if some people may say 2-0 and 1-0 isn't aren't big enough winning margins against teams like Quorn and Oadby.
Fox in a Box Posted 14 July 2007 Author Posted 14 July 2007 OS Quorn FC 0-2 Leicester City Posted on: Sat 14 Jul 2007 Leicester City made it two wins out of two for the day when they gained a 2-0 victory over Quorn in a pre-season friendly fixture at Farley Way on Saturday afternoon. Martin Allen's squad had started the day by posting a 1-0 victory over Oadby Town at Topps Park. The team to face Quorn again contained a number of players making their debut for the club - including Jimmy Nielsen, James Chambers, Bruno N'Gotty, Radostin Kishishev and Carl Cort. A record crowd of over 2,000 crammed into the Sutton Park ground for the game - which was played in good spirits in brilliant sunshine. Article continues Advertisement The Foxes took the lead through Elvis Hammond with 25-mintues on the clock - the Ghana international striker heading home a Mark de Vries centre. Second half substitute Carl Cort looked to have doubled City's advantage ten minutes into the second period, but his side foot shot rebounded off the foot of the post and fell to safety. Allen made several changes on the hour mark - replacing the majority of the senior players with Academy youngsters. City made it 2-0 with just five minutes of the game remaining - Eric Odhiambo firing home from the penalty spot after a Quorn defender had handled in the penalty area. Another big crowd is now expected at the Marston's Stadium on Tuesday night for the Foxes' friendly fixture against Hinckley United. City: Jimmy Nielsen, James Chambers, Bruno N'Gotty, Richard Stearman, Joe Mattock, Shaun Newton, James Wesolowski, Radostin Kishishev, Alan Sheehan, Mark de Vries, Elvis Hammond. Subs from: Luke O'Neill, Rab Dougls, Adam Vasey, Scott Garner, Joe Magunda, Andy King, Ricky Sappleton, Carl Cort, Eric Odhiambo, Ryan Beswick.
Toby or not Toby Posted 14 July 2007 Posted 14 July 2007 Does anyone know who luke o neil was? Also who was the ginger lad?
Fox in a Box Posted 14 July 2007 Author Posted 14 July 2007 Does anyone know who luke o neil was? Also who was the ginger lad? luke o neill was luke o neill i think!
Thracian Posted 14 July 2007 Posted 14 July 2007 Nielsen looks like he oculd be a nerve-jangler. Made an absolute hash of a corner that he probably didn't need to involve himself with. Other than that Quorn never tested him or Rab. Agree with that. Anyone thinking he's an automatic starter ahead of Henderson or Logan might have another think coming. Henderson never stopped talking to and encouraging players today and Logan looked rock-solid up to the time I left although neither had much to do.
Jonbluefox9 Posted 14 July 2007 Posted 14 July 2007 Does anyone know who luke o neil was? Also who was the ginger lad? O'Neill came on at left back second half and Adam Vasey I think must have been the ginger haired right sider according to Teeno and that match report.
Webbo Posted 14 July 2007 Posted 14 July 2007 OSA record crowd of over 2,000 crammed into the Sutton Park ground for the game - which was played in good spirits in brilliant sunshine. I'd be amazed if there wasn't 3,000+.Still everybody was paying cash on the door.
Thracian Posted 14 July 2007 Posted 14 July 2007 I'd be amazed if there wasn't 3,000+.Still everybody was paying cash on the door. To get that sort of attendance for friendlies against local opposition on the same day must have been a real eye-opener for some of the youngsters. Nice to see special cheers go up for Odhiambo and Mattock when they came over to the East side at Quorn.
Toby or not Toby Posted 14 July 2007 Posted 14 July 2007 O'Neill came on at left back second half and Adam Vasey I think must have been the ginger haired right sider according to Teeno and that match report. another left sided player called up for England then all good
