How to find people?

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm looking for a specific person, i've tried the phonebook but his name isn't in it, he lives in nottingham so I'm not too sure of how to go about finding him. I've checked the electoral roll but it looks as if he doesn't vote.

ANY IDEAS? TA

Erm...very long shot, but maybe try places like facebook/myspace if you know his name? :dunno:

Bet that's no help to you at all.

There's a .gov or .net website you can use.

Can't remember the precise name but it's something like search4u.com

Make a big pit in Nottingham city centre, cover it in vine leaves and put some of his favourite food in the middle. Leave it for a couple of days and go back. You're friend should be in the bottom of the pit with three drunk students called Rob, two traffic cones and a slapper from Beeston.

Job's a good'un

cheers for the replies so far, b4usearch works the best but it isn't at the moment as it's being updated.

The person i'm looking for is my girlfriends dad, she's not seen him since she was about 10 and he's recently stopped paying child support so her mum's looking to find him, sorry about the secretive first post!

You would guess the CSA would have access to credit searches via Equifax or Experian? These link info such as bank accounts, credit cards, mortgages, loans, mobile phone accounts, voters list, previous addresses, relatives and co-habitees.

I stand to be corrected, but unless you ghost through life without any of the above and have no credit history whatsoever, you can usually be found via Equifax/Experian when you apply for credit or change your billing address on any live account you have. All this info gets linked together - so as soon has he gets a new address and changes his details anywhere, they'll be traceable to all his old addresses via a simple search. Perhaps the CSA are too sh*t to use these?

Do you know anyone that works for a bank or building society etc that might be able to access one of these services for you on the sly?

If you don't have a contact address for the last three years, it can be a bit more difficult. If she's had no contact with the old man since she was 10, then that's not ideal. It does link aliases though, so if he's changed his name, he can still be found.

Good luck anyway.

Most of the info they give out is in the public domain anyway. If you vote but fail to tick one of the boxes it's a nightmare you start getting mail like it's gone out of business.

i used to this for a living (sort of) when i worked for a bank, and i have found people where they weren't even expecting to be found, having said that some people didn't even show up where they lived and we knew they should be cause of their accounts, it will show linked/previous addresses but only if they are known/given by the companies supplying data to the CRA's.

if a such is peformed (on the sly) it will show up on that persons credit history (with certain exceptions), it is also illegal - so i wouldn't encourage anyone to do this...

I would endorse that comment.

192, as Stez linked, works a charm. You need "credits" for it, but you can just sign up to a few junk emails I think to get 'em. Might take half an hour of your life, but you can find nearly anyone.
