Kilworthfox Posted 1 August 2007 Posted 1 August 2007 Milan said on Mundeh night that he wants to put the new tier on the East Stand an be in the Premiership obviously! The comment about the Expansion of the ground has really stuck out for me as a sign of a huge positive forward thinking process that signifies how much the club has changed its ambitions since the start of the year. 12 new players and 3-4 more in apparently show that we are trying to turn our fortunes for the better. So bearing in mind our ground, history, chairman, manager, fan base and positive outlook where do we see ourselves now and where will we be in 2,5,10,15 years time? Everyone is on about 3 years as MM has said he wants to be Prem within 3 years, but I am asking where will we stand? I believe we are a million miles from the big 4 which is an obvious statement, but who in 1988 would have thought Chelsea (they got promotion to the then 1st div in old money) would be Champions league favorites in less than 20 years up there with Barca, Real, Man U and Liverpool? We are not near the Spurs, Villa's, Newcastle's, Everton's select group of constant Prem teams with big grounds, and good support. We IMHO could easily match and better Wigan's, Readings, Boro's, Fulhams, of the Prem world as far as being a club goes certainly for support, history but just not results in recent years hey! But 1 good season and we would be back I am disappointed with the (it seems) reaction of some on here! In the close season MA & MM have lived up to every reasonable expectation that I would have had after all of the promises made at the end of last years shambles oops sorry season. As stated above we have 12 possibly 16 NEW players which has cleared the deadwood out! We have a Chairman who is talking about new stands not possible relegation to Leeds and F*restville I would have bitten my own arm off to get to this point 6 months ago under a stewardship of RK and the Board who put fk all money in. After all that has happened people are still making predictions of mid table or worse. Well we we were that bad last year and I hope everyone will agree that we will be better this year! Give it a few years we will be touching the spurs etc of this World and competing for UEFA cups places and League cups again. E I E I E I O..........

bringbackWalshie Posted 1 August 2007 Posted 1 August 2007 After all the terrible times we've had in the past 5 seasons or so, i think it's difficult for some fans to have any hope. Hopefully once the season finally gets under way, alot more will believe that we can become a successful side and become a top 8 side in the country.
Raj Posted 1 August 2007 Posted 1 August 2007 We IMHO could easily match and better Wigan's, Readings, Boro's, Fulhams, of the Prem world as far as being a club goes certainly for support, history but just not results in recent years hey! But 1 good season and we would be back Definetly match them. History wise we probably are 'bigger' than them already The future is looking great under Mr Mandaric!

Daggers Posted 1 August 2007 Posted 1 August 2007 The comment about the Expansion of the ground has really stuck out for me as a sign of a huge positive forward thinking process I don't want to be a right misery-arse here...but this can be summed up in one word: Portsmouth. He promised them a whole new stadium. Of course he's going to say this shit, and good on him, but people need to be a tad more circumspect.
Kilworthfox Posted 1 August 2007 Author Posted 1 August 2007 People are way too optimistic. Some may say people are way too downcast

Would it not be much easier to get a extension done on an existing stand rather than to build a new ground? Not to mention cheaper! Also has planning been approved in principle for the stand seeing as it is a possibility and been reported in the local press?
Daggers Posted 1 August 2007 Posted 1 August 2007 Some may say people are way too downcast There's a difference between going to bed with someone, planning on having a good time & knowing that in all probability you won't phone her in the morning...compared to closing your eyes in the taxi and trying to envisage the colour of the ****ing wedding flowers! Just enjoy the ride.
Raj Posted 1 August 2007 Posted 1 August 2007 I don't think we should start having dreams about anothet tier to the Stadium yet! Lets start filling this fcuker up on a regular basis first! But lets enjoy the ride(like daggers said!!!!)
City Lad Posted 1 August 2007 Posted 1 August 2007 Some may say people are way too downcast They're more then just a few "downcast" people on this forum. Without going too far, we should be optimistic. The people on here who said we would get promoted last year where wrong, we know that know. But, for once, we have a right to optimistic. 12 new signings, Our biggest signing since 2001, A successful chairman and a eccentric but good manager. I think we will push for the play-offs next year. Teams have lost key players and failed to replace them with quality. We haven’t lost any key players and we have added quality. We have a very large and good squad.

xlive2 Posted 1 August 2007 Posted 1 August 2007 im well with you there mate we are IMHO still a big club but just had a bit of bad luck recently but that changed the second MM signed his cheque book to buy us the only way is up and we will continue to do that
Brainy Posted 1 August 2007 Posted 1 August 2007 Some may say people are way too downcast Well when (though I'd prefer IF*) we lose a few games in a row, the people going mad about Martin Allen because of his funny articles on the OS are gonna look pretty stupid when they want him out. Most things said at the moment are plans - I'd rather take a look at the start of September just after we play our fourth game, see where we are in the table, see how the squad are playing.

Point accepted! It is too quick to be thinking we are going to win the league yes! Also it is too quick to be already writing LCFC's chances of promotion! Lets wait and see agreed. My point is MM & MA have done lots to make us positive and be Back where ever that may be! So lets bring sunshine to FT not the rain, that can come after the highly unlikely defeats

Tommeh Posted 1 August 2007 Posted 1 August 2007 well said Kilworth, we've had 6 years of utter garbage with the one exception of promotion in 02/03. I f we can't feel optimistic now I doubt we ever will at this level. Obviously the championship and prem is a big gap but with the ambition shown by the chairman, the fanbase and the current structure of the club I see no reason why we can't get promotion this or next season, stay up and then begin the really grow even more and bring the glory days back to this great club. For me the only thing holding us back at the moment is league position compare that with 6 months ago we had sweet FA! only 20k turning out whatever the weather watching sub amatuer players ruining our club. The transformation has been unreal over the last 6 months we could so easily have ended up like Forest, Leeds, swindon, Bradford etc. and others who have fell from the top but instead we can be looking at the Readings, wigans, M'boro's and even Chelsea's (in terms of what they've achieved in a small space of time.) And I actually now believe myself when I say "we'll be back there soon"
Jay1982 Posted 1 August 2007 Posted 1 August 2007 i dont post often but i read here alot, i would like to say that i like to see a bit of optimism, and i think this is a good post, so i would like to write something. Under MON we got to top 10 position i would like to think we could be a good top 5 but i very much doubt it. if the chairman stays then maybe a consistent top 10 like before, i reserve judgement on MA lets see how the season pans out, but i dont doubt him, he has done alot in the last 4 weeks, pre season than managers before, lets hope his enthusiasm matches the results and gets us to the promised land. Best of Luck to City, i just had a remenice of hillsborough '97 cant believe its been 10 years!!!!
Mr Happy Posted 1 August 2007 Posted 1 August 2007 People are way too optimistic. I'd rather that the 'oh woe is me' city fans finally started being optimistic, if only just a wee tiny bit, because all this negativity they spout is beginning to get tedious! Check the quote below: They're more then just a few "downcast" people on this forum. Without going too far, we should be optimistic. The people on here who said we would get promoted last year where wrong, we know that know. We have a very large and good squad. YES!! Just look at the positives we actually, for the first time in ages, have to look forward to. Yeah yeah so some people think we proberly don't have the best squad in the championship this season and yes we should just 'enjoy the ride' but people, whats wrong with having dreams? If u pursue a dream long enough it can become reality and the only way that dream and Leicester to progress as a club is as an whole, fans and lcfc representatives united: Thus far the managerial side of things is looking good so now it up to us, the fans, to provide strong support for the team including supporting players like MDV and Hammond who, yes get lots of stick but if their playing in city colours, deserve our full backing to help raise their game and generally give out plenty of positive vibes around the walkers bowl come 3pm matchday AND continue these vibes until end of game. Thus making the bowl an atmospheric place to be on saturday's for both players and fans. The boundaries of optimism are endless so it is up to us to pursue these possibilities and in 1 year, 2 years who knows where we'll be or what our status will be; as a club.
Mr Happy Posted 1 August 2007 Posted 1 August 2007 Muchly appreciated lets now celebrate with a win on the 4th against pompey
