sdb Posted 1 October 2007 Posted 1 October 2007 Did Fullop do anything?! N'Gotty was ok but i'm sure there were better centre backs in the league - Kisnorbo and Shawcross were both better in the same game imo
The Reverend Posted 1 October 2007 Posted 1 October 2007 Well done lads. Pair of steady eddies the both of them.
dog_4 Posted 1 October 2007 Posted 1 October 2007 perhaps going by the cup game is well? made 3 class saves
sdb Posted 1 October 2007 Posted 1 October 2007 perhaps going by the cup game is well? made 3 class saves yeh fair play if that's taken into account...but it shouldn't be should it???
Flynny Posted 1 October 2007 Posted 1 October 2007 N'Gotty passed straight to a Stoke player on three seperate occasions and was steady but unspectacular apart from that. He still got unbelievably good write-ups from most people. Probably an indicator of his class more than anything, but Saturday wasn't a good game by his standards at all. Kisnorbo did best of the three Saturday, easily. Funny decision, that.
dandannieldanok Posted 2 October 2007 Posted 2 October 2007 Somebody who went told me N'Gotty was really poor, distribution was laughable
Fat Ron Posted 2 October 2007 Posted 2 October 2007 I must have been watching another game, N'Gotty was not good at all in the first half. Second half he improved but was never really tested by Stoke. I can't believe he made Team of the week. That being said, If he was supposedly good on Saturday I cant wait to see him have an outstanding game! I am also somewhat suprised that Mattock hasnt been bigged up after his performance against Stoke, I thought for a young lad he was excellent. He consistantly beat his marker and got a fair few decent crosses in. The space he kept finding on the left hand side and the times he found it were unreal. I also thought he was pretty much the only player on the field that looked like he had hunger and desire for the ball, every time hw was free he was sreaming for it!! I know that Fryatt and Hume changed the game and Matty scored a great goal (again!!) but for me, young Joey was a superb contender for MOM.. If only we had a few more players with his attitude...

Agreed.

I'd agree about Mattock. Two excellent games in one week against tough opposition at 17-years old was a real achievement. N'Gotty's distribution was a bit off Saturday, as was McAuley's but his big plus, as so often, was his reading of the game. Apart from their goal they hardly looked a threat all afternoon.
