Geo V Posted 2 October 2007 Posted 2 October 2007 Its hard to believe or understand that after so many new signings, (yes I have lost count how many we have made), that seven of last seasons misfiring squad somehow managed to start tonights game. I know we have some injuries to the squad but as far as I am aware the likes of Hellings, Hayes, Newton, Sappleton, Kaebi and Djeziri are fit and ready for selection whilst DJ and Cort (thank god on the latter) started on the bench. To me its quite a shocking statistic when you consider how bad we were last season coupled with the fact that we have signed so many players over the last few months. I think the next step for GM is to drop Chambers for Sheehan, change the system and get Elvis in for N`Gotty and we`ll be as close to last seasons losers as we can get. I wonder how Stephen Hughes is doing and if he would consider a return to the right-side of midfield on a short term loan deal??
Raj Posted 2 October 2007 Posted 2 October 2007 Get off the fcuking Bus you moaning bastard!!!! Geo Off!
BigGibbo Posted 2 October 2007 Posted 2 October 2007 Its not all about the players Geo last season we had a completely shite manager aswell
Geo V Posted 3 October 2007 Author Posted 3 October 2007 lads. I just couldn't believe my eyes when I heard the line-ups announced and the realization set in about how many from last year were in. OK my numbers were exaggerated at King never played last season but he was still at the club I think the trip abroad cant come quick enough for me now
Raj Posted 3 October 2007 Posted 3 October 2007 The worrying thing for me is that we have a squad of 40+ yet we still have to use an academy kid when our 2 midfielders are out injured???? THAT is a bad situation surely???

Raj Posted 3 October 2007 Posted 3 October 2007 think the main aim in january will be to get rid of some dead wood if possible and concentrate on Quality NOT quantity!!! remember Gibbo its not How big it is,its how well you work it!!!

I work it well ta very much but to the point yes ship ten players out & sign 3 or 4 quality ones & were looking good i think
Geo V Posted 3 October 2007 Author Posted 3 October 2007 I think that we should hunt down McKay and Fuccilo and shite in their cornflakes for helping bringing the likes of Hellings and Nielsen to this club if they are so shite that they cant get a game.
Raj Posted 3 October 2007 Posted 3 October 2007 i'd love someone on here to list exactly who the players are we have as pros at the club. Would be intesting to see exactly how many are top trump clowns!
Geo V Posted 3 October 2007 Author Posted 3 October 2007 i'd love someone on here to list exactly who the players are we have as pros at the club.Would be intesting to see exactly how many are top trump clowns! The sad fact is they are all on pro wages! My tiny brain is having real difficulties in coming to grips with the fact that we have made quite a few signings who are nowhere near the first team squad and have no immediate chance of featuring.
Leicester_Mad Posted 3 October 2007 Posted 3 October 2007 Fair play on Megson trying a youth player rather than Hellings, Hellings obviously isn't showing any prospect in training (he never even played under Allen...). I wasnt a fan of Megson when he came here, im still undecided but he's trying different things and not going with the "big names" like Kaebi - who unless you really play football manager not that many people had actually heard of before he signed! Arent you moaning bastards the same people who were moaning we didnt use the youth last season?
Guest Posted 3 October 2007 Posted 3 October 2007 I think that it underlines the lack of any quality that we have at this club. I agree that the squad was very thin in previous seasons (and with good reason), however buying players just for the sake of making up the numbers is foolish.
Geo V Posted 3 October 2007 Author Posted 3 October 2007 You don't sign players on loan for them to warm the bench as thats arguably what they were doing at there previous clubs and have left for first team action, just like Odhiambo, Dodds, De Vries and Logan have done with us. The Djzeri and Ferreira thing has been strange and before someone repeats the fact that Ferreira is injured, he had 10-14 days of training during the International break and a few reserve games. I don't get the Kaebi/Hellings/Nielsen signings either. I would much rather we bought these new players in, played them and if at that point they fooked up, slung them in the reserves just like what we should do with Cort after his shambolic performances in the first team. I know people will go on about reserve football but we have played a young lad from the academy who didn't step up but have refused to try a player who has 50 International caps and other who is still in his early 20s and has already been transferred for 2 million Euros. They may take to first team football! Who knows unless we give them a try?

davieG Posted 3 October 2007 Posted 3 October 2007 It wont help us to get rid of them if GM keeps proclaiming how poor they are, they may well be but he should keep that to himself especially as we've already found it nigh on impossible to get rid of the ones Allen didn't want.
