Jimmy Posted 17 October 2007 Posted 17 October 2007 That is a great result. Lets hope he man marked Ibrahimovic out of the game no he played right back
Geo V Posted 17 October 2007 Posted 17 October 2007 no he played right back Maybe Kallstrom or Wilhelmson? I know the latter got subbed at HT.
Stuliasz Posted 17 October 2007 Posted 17 October 2007 Part of the BBC report for the Norn Iron game... "Lafferty was well wide with a fourth-minute right foot shot and then Gareth McAuley made a great challenge on Johan Elmander as he bore in on goal."
Ultra Posted 18 October 2007 Posted 18 October 2007 I watched most of the game. Even at right-back McAuley was impressive, and played a full part in what by some distance was the best performance last night by a home nation. John O'Neill, commentating for BBC Northern Ireland, was also keen to sing his praises.
SystonFox Posted 18 October 2007 Posted 18 October 2007 hope he gets picked again then. i am happy for Gary Mac i rate him as a CB and he still has more to come.
Jimmy Posted 18 October 2007 Posted 18 October 2007 hope he gets picked again then.i am happy for Gary Mac i rate him as a CB and he still has more to come. just a shame the main commentator didn't realise McAuley was only the stand in captain
Fez of Mahrez Posted 18 October 2007 Posted 18 October 2007 I watched the game as well, was a cracking tackle on Elmander but he only had to make it cos he got totally turned around in the right-back position. Needs to play centre-back really, to state the obvious. Difficult when they've got a whole load of players there who are no better or worse than McAuley. Hopefully the result and his performance will give him confidence though.
Geo V Posted 18 October 2007 Posted 18 October 2007 Ho wmany potential right-backs have we now got ??? Stears, Chambers, McAuley, N`Gotty, Maybury, Kaebi, Kenton, Kishishev? Have I missed anyone out???
