Lineker's Left Foot Posted 7 October 2007 Posted 7 October 2007 According to NOTW, we're linked with Jonny Evans, but BBC Gossip reckons he's off to Sunderland.. any thoughts??
Zingari Posted 7 October 2007 Posted 7 October 2007 we don't need any more bad lads http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/loc...icle2980017.ece
Micky Ruddle Posted 7 October 2007 Posted 7 October 2007 Sunderland is his most likely destination due to the connections between Fergie and Keane.
ASH17LCFC Posted 7 October 2007 Posted 7 October 2007 Yes but they can't sign him untill the transfer window opens. We could have him for 3 months.
Micky Ruddle Posted 7 October 2007 Posted 7 October 2007 Yes but they can't sign him untill the transfer window opens. We could have him for 3 months. Thats what the speculation is all about. It isn't a permanent deal, a loan. Hence NOTW reporting Megson wanting Evans for so many months...
ASH17LCFC Posted 7 October 2007 Posted 7 October 2007 Still who would he come into replace ? Kissa, McAuley, N Gotty ???? Good defender but is he needed ?? Rather have a midfielder coming then another defender TBH.
dandannieldanok Posted 7 October 2007 Posted 7 October 2007 Still who would he come into replace ? Kissa, McAuley, N Gotty ???? Good defender but is he needed ?? Rather have a midfielder coming then another defender TBH. Totally agree, Evans is good but defence isn't a problem position.
Brainy Posted 7 October 2007 Posted 7 October 2007 Still who would he come into replace ? Kissa, McAuley, N Gotty ???? Good defender but is he needed ?? Rather have a midfielder coming then another defender TBH. Stearman, perhaps?
dandannieldanok Posted 7 October 2007 Posted 7 October 2007 Stearman, perhaps? Evans is a left-sided player, can play left-back. And it would be harsh on Stearman, compared to last season he is playing really well.
Brainy Posted 7 October 2007 Posted 7 October 2007 Evans is a left-sided player, can play left-back. And it would be harsh on Stearman, compared to last season he is playing really well. It was a joke to ash. He hates Stearman
Simon Posted 7 October 2007 Posted 7 October 2007 We now have the best defence in the league, so says the league table, with the least amount of goals conceded. At the same time we have struggled to score all season (Watford apart) So what shall we do? Bring in more defenders I hear you say? Brilliant.
RowlattsFox Posted 7 October 2007 Posted 7 October 2007 People are saying we dont need central defenders but what happends if Kisnorbo, Bruno or McAuley get injured? I would rather we had someone like Evans to come in then Darren Kenton. I do agree that the midfield should be a priority and i am sure Megson is looking to stengthen that area along with the defence.

The thing is decent central defenders like Evans don't want to sit on the bench and wait if there is an injury, although I do agree with the sentiment regarding Kenton.

Stearman moves to the centre, Chambers or Kaebi play right-back. Simple.
Simon Posted 7 October 2007 Posted 7 October 2007 Stearman moves to the centre, Chambers or Kaebi play right-back. Simple. I'm so glad I wasn't the only one who thought that was blindingly obvious.
ASH17LCFC Posted 7 October 2007 Posted 7 October 2007 I never seen Evans really play, Heard he was at sunderland last season and they went up. So could be a very good player. Saying that, Alan Rodgers was at leicester when we went up If he can play Stearman postion ... I SAY GET HIM IN.
Mr Happy Posted 7 October 2007 Posted 7 October 2007 Stearman moves to the centre, Chambers or Kaebi play right-back. Simple. Yeah defense isn't our main problem currantly. What we actually need is more cover/competition for the left side (whether it be LB or LM).
Geo V Posted 7 October 2007 Posted 7 October 2007 First we are linked to Darren Moore and now another central defender. I wouldn't bother looking for another one unless we do get any injuries. If we did get problems then Evans would be a great solution as he played a big part in Sunderland going up last season. He might well be available though as he has gone down the pecking order at Old Stratford even further since they brought back Pique from his loan spell in Spain so I suppose it could be a possible deal.
Blue Bob Posted 8 October 2007 Posted 8 October 2007 Now Megson has turned things around we are very tight at the back and that is not an area that concerns me. I think our problem is creating goal opportunities. Midfield is where we have been losing it too much, with Clemence and Weso out we are very exposed. I also think we need a target man if we are going to continue playing hoof ball - one that is good in the air as that is another area where we struggle - Cort is not up to the job!!!
Tommy G Posted 8 October 2007 Posted 8 October 2007 This rumour is Tosh. Don't think fegie wants him to go, even if he was allowed he would go straight back to Sunderland. Prem chance over a championship one? no chance!
