Simi Posted 16 October 2007 Posted 16 October 2007 We went to see this at the Phoenix today for a media trip, bumped into Micky and Wes What do people think to this, if you've seen it obviously. I thought it was good, after getting used to the subtitles...
Finnegan Posted 16 October 2007 Posted 16 October 2007 That your subtitle cherry popped? Funnily enough, happened to me at the Phoenix too. Spent the next two years glued to subtitled films, hehe. Pans' Lab was blinding, one of the best films I've seen this year. Immensely gloomy, mind, unless you buy totally into the fantasy at the end. I thought the Faun was fantastic. The only thing that disappointed me, was how much of a small role the Pale Man got.

I thought the Faun was fantastic. The only thing that disappointed me, was how much of a small role the Pale Man got. Yeah, it was the first time. That pale man was weird as anything. Pretty gory film I thought, considering it was only rated as a 15.
Daggers Posted 16 October 2007 Posted 16 October 2007 Odd that you were taken to see the third part of a trilogy - Had you watched the other two beforehand? It's on my list of films to be delivered from ww.LoveFILM.com

Mort Posted 16 October 2007 Posted 16 October 2007 Great Film, then again i like to buy into the fantasy ending coz the alternative is too damn depressing!, either way a fantastic bit of cinema and visually it simply cant be bettered, fantastically crafted movie!
Phube Posted 16 October 2007 Posted 16 October 2007 Fantastic film! Really weird and upsetting!! Just still don't understand whether it's all in her head or not though!! On the subtitle thing... It's weird but after about 10 minutes of watching a subtitled film I don't even realise I'm reading them!!
Phube Posted 16 October 2007 Posted 16 October 2007 Odd that you were taken to see the third part of a trilogy - Had you watched the other two beforehand? It's on my list of films to be delivered from ww.LoveFILM.com Yeah it's not a 'real' trilogy, just a themic trilogy... Like Baz Lurmans "Red Curtain" trilogy... Striclty Ballroom, Romeo + Juliet & Moulin Rouge! I'm with Tesco DVD rental (+Wii games), which is done via LoveFilm... How are you finding it Mensi/Dave/Bob....?

Best of those is clearly the Vengeance trilogy. Park Chan-wook

I thought it was good, after getting used to the subtitles... I Thought it was alright, bit crazy though. The scrotom man (pale man) made me laugh, all his skin was kinda drooping off of him like a 70 year olds ball sack And that Faun was driving me absoloutely nuts with his voice, it was so deep everytime he spoke the whole of Leicester must of shook. Oh yeah Ched i have a name suggestion for you if you change your name again. Roger Chederer. Well it made me and Micky laugh
Micky Ruddle Posted 16 October 2007 Posted 16 October 2007 Ched. Was a surprise to see you at the Phoenix. Much of a pleasure to see you outside of the football venue too. I thought it was good film. It made me giggle though. Where the bloke with the bingo wings decided to put his eyes into the palm of his hand, instead of inserting it into his eyes The Captain was a reet mug too!

Was horrid when he got that Chelsea smile sort of thing!
Wezleylowski Posted 16 October 2007 Posted 16 October 2007 Was horrid when he got that Chelsea smile sort of thing! Yeah and when he smashed that fellas face in with the bottle. You could actually see his nose get embedded into his face
David O'Leary Posted 16 October 2007 Posted 16 October 2007 Yeah and when he smashed that fellas face in with the bottle. You could actually see his nose get embedded into his face Sound's like a lovely family film
The Stig Posted 16 October 2007 Posted 16 October 2007 I went to see it today as well. I don't normally like films if they are A Over 1.5 hours long B Not a comedy as I don't have a long attention span when it comes to sitting down watching films or TV, but I really enjoyed it. Great film which keeps you engaged and you get used to the sub-titles after a few minutes. If I liked it anyone would.
syston_fox Posted 16 October 2007 Posted 16 October 2007 I enjoyed it .... and this thread has reminded me that I lent the dvd to a friend of mine the week after it came out and havent seen it since!!! Thats about six months ago god dammit!
Tommy Posted 16 October 2007 Posted 16 October 2007 I went and saw it today at The Phoenix with my Film Studies class n' all. Thought it were fantastic like
Bojimha Posted 17 October 2007 Posted 17 October 2007 I watched this a few months ago (I love foreign films especially spanish language ones) and thought it was ok but no too fantastic. The tree toad bit was bizarre and so was most of the film! Other subtitled films I recommend : Futbol Dias (Spanish footy and life film, funny) Intacto (head game / thriller type film) Nueve Reinas (Cool film in Argentina about two conment) Y Tu Mama Tambien (though a few bizarre scenes in this!) Amores perros (a film with many stories all related to one incident)
