Nationwider Posted 26 October 2007 Posted 26 October 2007 Did Roy Keane manage school kids? Didnt think so, He was threw straight in at the deep end and got Sunderland promoted. Keane went and got some coaching qualifications. He also had the benefit of being a world-class footballer himself, thus enabling him to skip a rung or two of the managerial ladder. When you can walk the walk, then you can also talk the talk. He also worked for most of his playing career with Sir Alex Ferguson and Brian Clough.
Boycie Posted 26 October 2007 Posted 26 October 2007 Icon to us though he is, Walshy is no Roy Keane. Why?
Boycie Posted 26 October 2007 Posted 26 October 2007 Keane went and got some coaching qualifications. He also had the benefit of being a world-class footballer himself, thus enabling him to skip a rung or two of the managerial ladder. When you can walk the walk, then you can also talk the talk. He also worked for most of his playing career with Sir Alex Ferguson and Brian Clough. Thats to far. He was the most overated player to play in the premiership.

You're making the (understandable) mistake of utilising logic, reason and a little insight whilst addressing someone who has an appreciation of neither of the 2 former and is lacking in the latter.
hairy Posted 26 October 2007 Posted 26 October 2007 Miss Leicester Like your style Mr G. It will give us something to look at rather than the poor 'football' being played down at the Walkers! Sign her up!
The People's Hero Posted 26 October 2007 Author Posted 26 October 2007 Miss Leicester Did I ever mention I was Mr University of Leicester 2003? Technically, she is mine.
Molson Canadian Posted 26 October 2007 Posted 26 October 2007 Ex-Leicester player: Gary Lineker Current status (if known): Sports Broadcaster, Honorary Vice-President of Leicester City Foxes along with Gordon Banks and Peter Shilton also the North Stand is named in his honour (correct me if i'm wrong about any of this information ) Management/coaching experiences: None (That I Know Of) Reasons to suggest suitability ie strengths: began his career at his hometown club of Leicester City in 1976, breaking into Leicester's first-team squad in 1978. Lineker began scoring prolifically in the early 1980s, finishing twice amongst the top flight's leading scorers and winning his first England call up. He was Division One top goalscorer in 1984-85 (tied on 24 goals with Kerry Dixon) Years Club App (Gls)* 1978-1984 Leicester City 194 (95) 1985-1986 Everton 41 (30) 1986-1989 Barcelona 99 (43) 1989-1992 Tottenham Hotspur 105 (67) 1992-1994 Nagoya Grampus Eight 23 (9) TOTAL 462 (244) 1984-1992 England 80 (48) Lineker was never cautioned by a referee for foul play (never once receiving a yellow card or a red card). He helped saved our club from going under, In October 2003, Lineker announced a £5 million rescue plan for cash-strapped club Leicester City, describing his involvement as charity rather than an ego trip. He said that he would invest a six-figure sum and other members of his consortium would invest a similar amount. Lineker shares a birthday with Winston Churchill I could go on and on about him, but most of all he is a LEGEND, although i know their is very little chance of him becoming manager I personally would like to see it happen because of his passion for the game and his love for leicester city *special thanks to wikipedia for info http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary_Lineker
