Wherethefoxhat? Posted 21 November 2007 Posted 21 November 2007 From TeamtalkOllie quick to trash tabloid tattle Ian Holloway says reports he feels let down by the Plymouth Argyle board are "absolute rubbish", and insists he is not about to join Leicester The Pilgrims manager, who has guided his side to seventh spot in the Championship after the first third of the campaign, has reacted with irritation to two stories in Sunday's tabloid press which suggested he is disillusioned with life at Home Park. The first, in The People, claimed Holloway was frustrated with the Argyle board's lack of financial backing, while the News of the World claimed Holloway was on a short-list of names for the vacant managerial post at the Walkers Stadium. Responding to the first story, Holloway said: "Anyone who takes that seriously ought to commit themselves to an asylum. There's no truth behind it. "Ask anybody who has ever met me, ask anybody who knows me, how I feel about Plymouth Argyle. They'll tell you the truth. If you need me to say it again, I'm in love with the place. "I think this is an absolutely magnificent football club. "These things just get totally out of hand and I can't understand it. The answer from me is that it's absolute rubbish." And when asked about the link with the Foxes, the Argyle boss added to the Western Morning News: "There's not a scrap of truth in any of it, and it doesn't stop me getting on with my job to the best of my ability. "At least 15 managers have been linked with the Leicester job, and if I'm one of them then that means we must be doing something right down here, doesn't it? Normally we're off the radar down here." Well bugger me !!
Fez of Mahrez Posted 21 November 2007 Posted 21 November 2007 Nothing there to suggest he wouldn't be interested if Milan came calling. I thought it did, it seems to me he's perfectly happy there, found his niche in life and it would take more than a loony Serb with a bagful of money to tempt him away. His security level at Plymouth must be off the scale compared to what he could expect at Leicester. I bet you could find a similar article about Martin Allen before he joined us. I've read enough of those articles never to read anything into them. ;)
davieG Posted 21 November 2007 Author Posted 21 November 2007 I bow to your greater insight into the mind of the average football manager This must be a very big decision for Holloway to make for personal reasons. But we have two games in three days and Plymouth have a big game of their own. If he talks with Mandaric today then you'd have to imagine it must be sorted before the game on Saturday. What a limited time-frame for such a life-changing decision. I hope he picks the right option for his family. I've given up caring about us. Let's hope he's picked the right option then.

DanTheFoxBhoy Posted 21 November 2007 Posted 21 November 2007 You are a Noob +1 If we get some tactical ability as well as a good time, then Holloway is hardly a bad move at all
Micky Ruddle Posted 21 November 2007 Posted 21 November 2007 God Help us all. We've gone from Mad Dog to Mad Tw@t. Milan you've had your chance here now GO!! God help you for thinking that
ibbosuk Posted 21 November 2007 Posted 21 November 2007 God help you for thinking that God has no influence on Holloway taking the job, he was recommended by Slavan Bilic
NorthernFox Posted 21 November 2007 Posted 21 November 2007 I for one am looking forward to this ride with Ollie. Stan has fooked up Engerland well and proper so we will be able to concetrate on our objective. Keep the faith.....
RedOnRed Posted 22 November 2007 Posted 22 November 2007 I think the Dons tried to land Holloway instead of Allen. I would of prefered Holloway. I think Holloway will be great for you. Personally, I think he's got a more proven track record then Allen and will be far better tactically and will have far better man management skills. As long as he can tow the line with MM I think he'll do well for you and is the better choice compared to Allen and Megson. My favourite Holloway quote was when he said after a game that his luck had been so bad that if he fell in a barrel of tits he'd probably still come out sucking his thumb. He's got to be worth having just for gems like that.

RedOnRed Posted 22 November 2007 Posted 22 November 2007 what he has done as a manager is all relativehe has exceeded expectation at the clubs he has been at. i hope he can do that here What do you mean by what he's done is relative but has exceeded expectations?
eaststandtom Posted 22 November 2007 Posted 22 November 2007 What do you mean by what he's done is relative but has exceeded expectations? managing bristol rovers, qpr and plymough. they expect things within their own set of individual parameters. he achieves this but more too we(on the whole) 'expect' promotion. if he continues to manage the way he has he could achive success with us....in theory
