Mark Posted 5 March 2005 Posted 5 March 2005 I would try sticking Dublin upfront for the next game, apart from the strikers I thought we were very good today. perhaps try Dublin with Conolly. We need to make something happen upfront...=/ 74918 Wasn't that tried and failed under Adams though? I don't think De Vries will be dropped, every manager has a favourite and seeing as he's brought him down from Hearts with him I can see him being one.

Personally I think our strikeforce let the whole side down today, as I thought we were pretty excellent all over the rest of the field, we defended well, walker made some good saves, we created chance after chance, and them pair of donkeys couldnt bag an onion...
Wellman Posted 5 March 2005 Posted 5 March 2005 Speechless. We were absolutely fine in the build up play today, but the 2 up top were a disgrace. I'm not one who shouts abuse at our players and have a go at them, but today they were both shocking. De Vries has a MASSIVE advantage over any player he plays against in an areal battle and ALAN ROGERS beat him to a couple of headers today!!!! Connolly needs to get his act together, 6 goals from a so called 'Striker' isn't good enough. He drifts far to wind on to many occassions. OK it does work sometimes when he does that but thats not the point. There were a few occassions today where the ball just dropped into the 6 yard box and knowbody was there to put it into the back of the net, Dickov would have been in those sort of positions and put them in. With Connolly we have a totally different player and it's just not good enough in my opinion. CL please please pleaseeeeee, get another Striker in that can put the ball in the net, if before Saturday then I would be dead happy! THANK YOU
TAFKA Castroneves Posted 5 March 2005 Posted 5 March 2005 Ok I totally have to agree, I always have wished and believed that Connolly was going to pull himself out of his "bad-patch" but to face it, he is just totally SHIT. De Vries showed signs of quality after his subs appearances just after he was signed, but now he is looking pretty over-rated. We desperatly need a new striker although I get the impression Levein is going to remain sticking to these two. I agree it's time to give Dublin another crack, he has played well at the back and no doubt wants to be a striker again. Give him the chance to prove himself as a worthy striker now that the other two mentionable ones are proving to be doing #### all.
kirkup21 Posted 6 March 2005 Posted 6 March 2005 Mark De Vries on his own up front worked against charlton so drop connolly and see how that works.

That was probably our best performance of the season so let's see if it works again.
Louise Posted 6 March 2005 Posted 6 March 2005 Mark De Vries on his own up front worked against charlton so drop connolly and see how that works. 74987 It worked as a formation however the two scorers were both centre-backs. A striker hasn't scored for us in over a month , last time one did that was Scowcroft in the Cup at the end of January, in the League it was Connolly against Gillingham the week before that.

We've tried him and he was apalling up front. Keep him at the beck and settle with him being a danger in set pieces. If anyone, give Wright a chance, or any of the academy lads e.g. O'Grady or the young 'uns Dodds or Graham...or even Chambo
