Kilworthfox Posted 11 December 2007 Posted 11 December 2007 This is when Ian Holloway will have had 13 days to get in some players and have been able to set out a side in his way. Unfortunately we have 6 more games to endure between this period with the same side as we have now. Now it has been spoken about that we are to bring in 4 new players almost certainly in attacking positions. Probably 2 wingers and either 2 forwards or 1 att mid and a forward. Definitely no right back So we now have too look to: Hull Away Wolves Away Ipswich Home Charlton Home QPR Away then Cov If I was in charge i would put every effort into the Hull and QPR games and try to maximise the squad for those games as it IMO is the best chance we have of getting points. The other fixtures at the moment look very difficult with what we have at the moment. I would like to add at this point that I cannot believe I am worried by Ipswich, Charlton and Wolves but that's how things are at the moment. Although I blame Holloway for none of this. We at the end of this 6 game period must ensure we are still fighting and picking up points and 1 win in there is essential! Also that we at best still have dreams of playoffs for these new guys to slot in to hopefully make that big difference to fire city to at least a respectable position for next years ****fingers crossed***** improvement Keep smiling
filbertstreetboy Posted 11 December 2007 Posted 11 December 2007 starts at cov?are you on drugs? it started the day he started geting paid (more than 3 prem managers btw) that awfull lot of money oh and were in the division do you think we could be by then?
Fez of Mahrez Posted 11 December 2007 Posted 11 December 2007 I'm wary of this idea that we are just treading water until the transfer window. We were treading water until Mandaric arrived apparently and look where we are now. This is about grinding out results for the foreseeable future, regardless of the transfer window. For whatever reason we don't seem capable of playing good football and results are now the bottom line. If that means Megsonating teams then so be it.
Ultra Posted 12 December 2007 Posted 12 December 2007 At least we have players coming back from injury. This should give us some more options for Saturday. Ollie actually picked a decent starting 11 last night, only for the fcukwit referee to wreck it for him.
davieG Posted 12 December 2007 Posted 12 December 2007 I certainly wouldn't pin my hopes on the transfer window, even if we managed to dupe some quality into joining us it is no guarantee they will hit the ground running, as Fez says we got to adopt an attitude to picking up points in every game.
DanTheFoxBhoy Posted 12 December 2007 Posted 12 December 2007 starts at cov?are you on drugs? it started the day he started geting paid (more than 3 prem managers btw) that awfull lot of money Agree No reason why we can't pick up points on the road, we seem to be doing better at that than we were last season
Geo V Posted 12 December 2007 Posted 12 December 2007 I certainly wouldn't pin my hopes on the transfer window, even if we managed to dupe some quality into joining us it is no guarantee they will hit the ground running, as Fez says we got to adopt an attitude to picking up points in every game. Spot on. Clemence was player of the year at Brum last season in a squad that included the likes of Larrson and Bendtner but we haven't seen him anywhere near that form. DJ has hardly set the world alight despite his big money transfer either and N`Gotty, Kaebi, Chambers and some others have lost there places to last years squad of muck. The players need to knuckle down and stop feeling sorry for themselves but there is no doubt in my mind that we have too many similar ability players that need to be punted out, even if that means some fans favourites moved on. As for Ollie, he is no different to any other manager. He will need a few weeks to get the lads thinking his way and to understand his plans. He has lots of work to do but I reckon he is the bloke to get it right.
wirralsimon Posted 12 December 2007 Posted 12 December 2007 I am sure Ollie wants to get points every game too. What we are now discovering the hard way is that all the spending over the summer has made no difference at all to the quality of the squad. The last thing we need to do is compound this by buying yet more players of a similar standard. We need to buy in the transfer window, but only buy players that will genuinely improve the squad we have now, i.e. quality over quantity. We won't do that by bringing Martin Allen back, and Milan should stick to running the club rather than making transfer decisions. Simon

Simon He has a decent track record of buying players from Central and Eastern Europe and has bought in some quality loan signings so lets hope he does that with us and unearths a gem or five.

Leicester-Sam Posted 13 December 2007 Posted 13 December 2007 What a load of toss! Why is it a load of toss?

Brainy Posted 13 December 2007 Posted 13 December 2007 Why is it a load of toss? Its just a bit negative...

For whatever reason we don't seem capable of playing good football and results are now the bottom line. If that means Megsonating teams then so be it. I've just mentioned that in another thread about how Megson at least identified we were shite going forward, but chose a side to give us the best chance of getting results with the players we've got. I'm not criticising Holloway because it's far too early and he wants to play a certain way, but at the same time we just have to get through to January with as many points as we can, even if it means adopting an unpopular pragmatic approach.
Tommy G Posted 14 December 2007 Posted 14 December 2007 Why Cov?? We need to pick up results asap or we really are in trouble. If we got beat 3/4-0 at Hull on sat then i think there could potentially be a massive uproar. Especially if Carl C**t plays again
morris1234 Posted 14 December 2007 Posted 14 December 2007 cheaky buggers have dodged it! f**k you ray ranson!
