Fat Ron Posted 19 December 2007 Posted 19 December 2007 Linkage Wooo Hooo!!! I've been saying this for months!!! (And shot down on here frequently too!!!)
Fox in a Box Posted 19 December 2007 Posted 19 December 2007 LinkageWooo Hooo!!! I've been saying this for months!!! (And shot down on here frequently too!!!) Ian Holloway today said the January transfer window is an opportunity to rid the squad of a negative atmosphere. Leicester City's manager insisted he would do his "utmost to get players in and out" next month. Admitting he faced the "biggest challenge" of his career, Holloway hinted that City were prepared to pay up players' contracts if they could not find a new club. With the transfer window opening at the end of the month, Holloway wants movement in both directions and feels that, until that happens, the right mood in the camp will be hard to produce. He said: "I believe there is a negativity because there are a few players here who feel they are not wanted, and they go back three managers ago and that is not a good situation. "It is unfair to them and the best thing to do is either move them on or pay them up. "They are not bad players. They are just caught up in a bad situation. I believe energy follows energy and I need a nice positive training ground, so I am going to do my utmost to get players in and players out. "But not just for the sake of it. It is going to be calculated, it is going to be worked on and it is going to be checked, double checked and triple checked before we do anything. "I am here, I am working on it and I am going to be here a long time. "Let's look at it, let's work at it and let's give us a chance to add to the squad and clear some away." Holloway said clarity was the key as he works towards the long-awaited revival of fortunes. And he hopes the enthusiasm of his younger players will rub off on the embattled seniors who are short on confidence. Clearing the decks for new players is a priority, and on both counts City were hard at work yesterday, with trialists in a practice match at the training ground and others in the shop-window for the Reserves at Nottingham Forest. Holloway hopes the picture will soon become clearer to everyone because he feels things need to be set up without the doubts and frustrations he has inherited from a tumultuous season so far. He said: "The lack of clarity has effected everything. It takes time but what we have to do is provide it so that everyone knows how they stand. "On trial, I had a left winger, a right winger and a central midfield player who is attacking, and I think we need those positions filled. "Young Jonathan Hayes has got a chance as a left winger. He's till young though. "I tried Ashley Chambers on the right, although he is a centre-forward, and he did quite well. He is fresh and has a brilliant attitude. "Some of those kids are showing the senior ones how they should be putting the effort in."
shrood Posted 19 December 2007 Posted 19 December 2007 Yeah I thought this is what was definitely needed. On the surface it seems like a huge waste of money but most of the likely suspects are 95% certain to never play for the 1st team again so what's the point of keeping them on.
Father Ted Posted 19 December 2007 Posted 19 December 2007 LinkageWooo Hooo!!! I've been saying this for months!!! (And shot down on here frequently too!!!) Woohoo! Maybury Douglas Nielsen Kishishev Newton Hellings Hammond
Manwell Pablo Posted 19 December 2007 Posted 19 December 2007 LinkageWooo Hooo!!! I've been saying this for months!!! (And shot down on here frequently too!!!) There goes what little chance we had of getting a fee for any of Leveins playaers.

Asha Posted 19 December 2007 Posted 19 December 2007 Looks like someone agrees with you mate... About Time. Far too much negativity around, clear them out get some new in and lets kick on from there!!City Slicker, Leicester
Jay Posted 19 December 2007 Posted 19 December 2007 LinkageWooo Hooo!!! I've been saying this for months!!! (And shot down on here frequently too!!!) well it should only be a last resort as we will end up losing money if we can't shift them!! it's going to cost a big big wedge of cash to shift the likes of Douglas, DeVries, Hammond, Maybury and so on paying off players cost the club basically the remainder of their contract and maybe + any bonus they would be entitled to for the contract going full term the only benefit it has is that they no longer turn up for training. it sounds like Ollie has rooted out the main protagonists at the club and has basically told them to f**k off!! which can only be good news
Fat Ron Posted 19 December 2007 Author Posted 19 December 2007 Looks like someone agrees with you mate... [/i][/b] Read the name again Im in the Merc... Im famous...
Big Time Charlies Posted 19 December 2007 Posted 19 December 2007 This is the best bit of news all season in my opinion! The squad is a total mess at the moment, I imagine the team has zero morale and without actually coming out and saying it in the press Ollie has suggested that one or two (or several) of the team have totally the wrong attitude. He strikes me as a guy who is perhaps not the most subtle but who doesn't put up with any sh*t and i say good on him, he's just what we need to dig us out of this hole. If we can clear the decks in January, and yes it will be expensive paying off a few of the senior players but totally worth it to get rid of any negative attitude in the team - then bring a few players (they don't need to be super stars, they just need to have the right attitude and actually want the club to be successful) then, shock horror, I think we can all begn to get a bit optimistic and forget the negativity.
Staf Posted 19 December 2007 Posted 19 December 2007 Woohoo!Maybury Douglas Nielsen Kishishev Newton Hellings Hammond Brilliant although i think we should keep Kishishev
Simi Posted 19 December 2007 Posted 19 December 2007 Good riddance to bad rubbish I say, some of them having been conning a living for to long.
maddog Posted 19 December 2007 Posted 19 December 2007 Fantastic news. I made a post about this yesterday and obviously none of you agreed with me but now the next day Ollie says he may do it and you all love it. For shame on you.

vim23 Posted 19 December 2007 Posted 19 December 2007 I'm really starting to become a big fan of holloway. I know it's not looking good at the moment but i really feel that given time he will sort this mess out. Let's just hope that Mandaric keeps this guy!!!!! The rest of this season will be a scrap but at least we have a scrapper as a manager so i'll back us all the way to stay up this year and give us a bit of optimism for next season.

Well, the first thing he's got to do is apologise for treating Mandaric as a child. People like Mandaric do not take kindly to people publicly making fun of them.
Blue Bob Posted 19 December 2007 Posted 19 December 2007 Brilliant although i think we should keep Kishishev Not so sure I agree, seeing as he has only managed a few games, none of which he played very well. In addition he has been on loan for several months at a time when we have been desperate for a midfielder. Sorry Kishishev On your way out please hold the door open for: Hammond , Douglas , Nielson , Maybury , Hellings , Kenton , De Vries and if we can squeeze out Cort too then I think we will have got rid of a load of dead wood and can look to build a new team

oggie Posted 19 December 2007 Posted 19 December 2007 I am here, I am working on it and I am going to be here a long time. Hmm, now where has he said that before? Furthermore, it pre-supposes that MM will keep him!
davieG Posted 19 December 2007 Posted 19 December 2007 but seeing as we are never gonna sell any of them, wouldn't it make it exactly the same cost??????? I guess it's the interest you would lose unless of course the payoff was in installments.

He has been brilliant for us when asked to play so therefore deserves a chance surely?!?!
