Collins John

OK he was awful and yeah we do need a target man to perform and reality is that an unfit (ish) Collins John is all we have at the moment so reserves football is not really an option. The problem is as much with our midfield creating nothing, not making passes for forwards to run on to and making it so difficult for them to time runs when they don't get the ball early enough. If you think about it Fryatt is often offside with what looks like minimal effort to stay onside but hey du du du du Matty Fryatt sing the hordes.

I'm just saying let's give the guy a proper run in the team and see what happens......and in a team that turns the corner and plays with some degree of confidence I am pretty sure Collins John would be a real handful in this league

I was in a perfect position with the back line yesterday and everytime the midfeild had the ball they couldn't pass it to John because he was offside! Thats what got on my nerves the most!

Fryatt was pretty much locked out of the game, very quite, but at least he was available to be passed to, even if they we're poor positions to be in.

I agree with what you are saying in your conclusion there but if I was the gaffer I would have layed into him after that and told him it MUST improve. Staying onside is simple.

Its a strikers job to stay up top, Offside or Onside i seem to remember most of the match being played in the air or in our half and when it came to us getting a decent attack together he got back onside and got 2 decent chances, The first one was actually very hard to score because by the time he got it under control the keeper was at his feet. The second he should have scored but its encouraging we have a striker that doesnt spend half the game in midfield leaving us light in attack when it comes to that.

People seem to forget its not the strikers job to win the ball in midfield or track back, thats a job for the midfielders and defenders to do. Strikers score goals and you don't do that when you spend all game playing deep.

Knew it wouldn't take long ! Here's a good idea, lets boo the bloke, that'll make him play better.

I don't think John will get a permanent move here, I think and hope we are looking at better than that. :yesyes:

I wasn't saying come deep, I was saying stay on ****ing side. He's Useless if he's offside.

I struggle to see what your getting at really  Hume was playing in midfield, so thats why he was deep. :dunno:

Yeah but Fryatt wasn't and he was static and all over the place. Wasn't aiming the deep comment at you some people here think its a strikers job to win the ball and come deep all the time.

What i'm getting at is thats his playing style if you noticed when we got the ball down and passed it he came from and offside position just in time and caused problems got 2 one and ones from it.

Its only useless because we have 2 oafs at centerback that continue to hoof it up no matter what, If we got it down and played abit more you'd see a better player.

Cant argue with that.

If he's miles offside and putting no effort in then i see your point, but strikers sometimes do this to distract the defenders (as im sure you know), it gives them something to think about if hes behind them i.e when is he going to get back onside etc. Obviously, it also pulls defenders around and opens space up for others.

I wasn't suggesting that he would be getting a permanent move, my point is more that a section of LCFC fans seem to pick out a player, decide he is crap and then boo or moan at the player. Why do "fans" time and time again round on someone and generate a negative and pressurised atmosphere that does NOT help the team.

I know we have had to endure some dreadful sides over the last few years (I might add I have also seen MANY very poor City sides over the last 40 years) and no we don't really get any value for money but the "I want success and I want it now because I think I deserve it as a paying customer" brigade need to go and find something else to support rather than follow "their team" through the more substantial poor times that our relatively "big club" has always experienced as against the few years when we have been a success. The moaning boo boy mob contribute nothing more than embarrassing noise and have aided the poor Walkers record by creating a tension filled stadium that is mirrored by our players performances in the last four seasons.

I too hope that we are looking at quality signings but until I see it I'm not convinced we are going to attract any names bigger than someone like Collins John, we are in no position to do so at the moment short of offering ridiculous contracts and let's face it there are quite a lot of clubs in our division who can outbid us on that front and they are all better placed than us in The Championship. We also have to hope that any player who might be attracted doesn't turn up at The Walkers to watch us and sees a struggling team with a growing proportion of fickle dimwits who boo and jeer their own players because they would choose another team to play for.

We are really struggling for any kind of form as a team and barracking will not help, period.

So I'm just saying let's get off Collins John's back or whoever his "quality" replacement is and support the team and a manager who is trying to steer a demotivated, tension filled side with a real lack of confidence through to January when we hope some new faces and attitudes can bolster the confidence levels and provide some relief from the pressure pot atmosphere that has developed over a long time at LCFC.

Meeeh. End of the day, his finishing was bollocks yesterday but it happens, doesn't it? Hume's been cack for weeks but has suddenly found the scoring touch - it come sand goes, s'what form and confidence are all about. I was annoyed with John last night, but in all sincerity, he's still amongst my favourite of our strikers and I'd like us to - at very least - keep him 'til the end of the season (how long IS his loan?)

I understand and agree with your post, but you and I know that the supporters of LCFC are worn out watching the dross thats been served up the past few seasons and City supporters are no better or worse than any other when it comes to forming an opinion about their team. They have had NOTHING to cheers for a number of seasons just mind numbingly poor displays. It really is time that the club gave the fans something to cheer about and a few players to "hero worship" I really hope this can start in the Jan transfer window with a few of Holloway's flying gems... :D

He's in the last month of 3 I think.

Anyway, if he ever wants to be a prem striker, he has to take (or at the very least, do much better) at least one of those chances.

I think it'd be bad business to shell out another million or so for him now, to be honest. But like I said - I'd like to see us extend his loan, then, if it ends in January. We haven't REALLY had a proper good look at him, and as someone else pointed out, his movement was pretty good yesterday. Just a real shame about the end product.
