I'm thinking of going to ATP at Minehead this year. Great line up for the Explosions in the Sky curated weekend.

But.........Butlins? Has anyone been to Minehead Butlins? What's it like? And for a concert venue?

I'm afraid I never got beyond the caravan park at Wells Next The Sea.

Yes, but I have discovered the secret tunnel that links the two....it's called the A47/M69/M6/M5

My meaning was, I never got to go to a Butlitz, I mean, Butlins, as a caravan was all we could afford. Now I'm rich and famous, I thought it was about time I got that up market feeling.

David Essex?

whats wrong with david essex :o ROCK ON , OH YEAH

ps , as kids , we used to go to a caravan in wells next the sea for our annual "holidays", (cockle fishing mainly) , what a bleeding dump

I've camped there (not camped it up you understand  )many times.

Camping's not much fun, but it is a nice place.

Substitute the word 'stupid' for 'quaint' then yes.

i aint been for about 40 years

You must have been a mere boy.

i've just had a recalculation of how many years ago and approx. its closer to 45-50 years ( we went a few years running) , and yes i was a mere boy (about 5-10 years old ) with no say in the matter :D

god, it seemed boring , we always seemed to be there when daytime was low tides , the sea seemed miles away and all we did was plod along the beach picking bl**dy cockles and if i never see wells or cockles again i don't mind :D

ps i hope all this talk of wells next the sea has been helpful to chris and his question regarding ATP :D

Wells Next the Sea is beautiful. When the tide goes out you can walk out for miles with your dog and get away from the whole world. Love it. Plus, I listened to the '66 World Cup Final on a radio on that beach so it has special memories for me.

Wells in Zomerzet is also nice.

Wells are generally nice, I find.

It hasn't changed. It just thinks it's posh now. And, yes, the stupid little train is still there. ;)

Shock was my reaction too. Just dropping in a member of the Wu Tang on the end of the list!
