Suffolk_fox Posted 30 December 2007 Posted 30 December 2007 We are going this year for the first time. We are taking the kids (7 and 8 yrs old) and looking forward to a good display. We are driving to a tube station on the Central line and getting in by tube, and getting the *Free* tube back after midnight. Anyone off here going? Anyone been and can offer advice?
Finnegan Posted 30 December 2007 Posted 30 December 2007 Get down as early as you can. They ARE good, much better than the highly overrated Ally Pally 5th November fireworks, but you'll need a good spot. You can see them from most of the main hotspots in Central London, but make sure you've well read on where you want to be and what time they start. Seriously, plan to optimise your view. We always just stumble down there pissed drunk and usually end up squinting from behind some random bit of architecture.
Alexikokopops Posted 30 December 2007 Posted 30 December 2007 Sydney New Year fireworks are sweet. Yunno, if you fancy popping over that way instead.
Monk Posted 30 December 2007 Posted 30 December 2007 I will probably be down there somewhere... but not sure where I will watch them from yet. I was supposed to be seeing them from a boat on the river but tickets sold out. My advice would be check out tfl.gov.uk it tells you some stations will be closed due to the sheer volume of people. I'd make a plan as to how you will get out of London. You will probably need to get a taxi to St Pauls or Liverpool St to avoid the crowds leaving. There will be a LOT of people there.
Phube Posted 31 December 2007 Posted 31 December 2007 I'm thinking of burning a match box. GENIE!!!!!!
