Jack Posted 1 January 2008 Posted 1 January 2008 We looked poor at the back today without Fulop. I don't feel confident at all with Henderson in goal. Mattock should have never of played, he was unfit and you could see it from the start. Impressed with Howards contribution, should have grabbed himself a goal. The only thing is I hope that we don't start playing this route one football all season, like we was playing today because it is not good to watch at all. Overall today out team performance was unnaceptable. I thought Buzsaky looked in a different class to our players and ran rings around them all game. We need to bring in Fulop, maybe 1 or 2 wingers and a central midfielder. Let's hope it's much better for Southampton on Saturday.
Thracian Posted 1 January 2008 Posted 1 January 2008 Really don't know what you want Thrac. Ollie bought his first 2 players for the club yesterday, the earliest possible occasion, and both of them were Strikers.Ollie's always been considered more gung ho than defensive and I haven't seen anything to the contrary. Well, for a start I'd have had Sheehan at left-back (Mattock isn't a genuine wing-back) and I wouldn't have had Hume on the left.
Simi Posted 1 January 2008 Posted 1 January 2008 For all those that think Matty Fryatt is a god, you should have been there today. The guy is a conman. A few good dribbles here and there but nothing more. He missed a sitter today and bottled his chance to head us to within a goal of QPR. Adding to that, constantly getting the ball stuck under his feet and always wasting possession. Never anticipating the knockdowns either. Fryatt and Hayles will never, ever work for us. Howard was man of the match by miles. Won more or less every header he challenged for but was let down by the amateurs that played off him. Some of the defending today was embarrassing and it was painfully easy for QPR to tear us apart from simple one twos and people running off each other. Should have bought Hayes on for me instead of Weso, we needed a wide man to supply for Howard, with Sheehan backing up Hayes as well that would of worked a lot better in my eyes. Lost a lot of battles in midfield and the defence struggled to deal with simple balls. Shame about the result because that ground can hold a nice little atmosphere as it threatened to at times during the second half. Highlight of the day has to be Lildave spewing up in the middle of St Pancras, though.

Simi Posted 1 January 2008 Posted 1 January 2008 Was this alcohol related? He was still hungover from last night!
Trumpet Posted 1 January 2008 Posted 1 January 2008 He was still hungover from last night! Alcohol + Small people = Not a sensible mix.
Sparky Posted 1 January 2008 Posted 1 January 2008 Well, for a start I'd have had Sheehan at left-back (Mattock isn't a genuine wing-back) and I wouldn't have had Hume on the left. not convinced at all about Sheehan defensivley and that goes for Mattock also , think id plump for Sheehan purely on the basis of being able to put a quality dead ball in to the box . Neither add much going forward in open play in my opinion
Simi Posted 1 January 2008 Posted 1 January 2008 Alcohol + Small people = Not a sensible mix. Indeed. Seen you waiting for your train at St Pancras! Did you see any of the parade in London at all?
Trumpet Posted 1 January 2008 Posted 1 January 2008 Indeed.Seen you waiting for your train at St Pancras! Did you see any of the parade in London at all? I didnt see any of the FT'ers today I don't think.. And i definately didnt see a parade.. where was it?
Simi Posted 1 January 2008 Posted 1 January 2008 I didnt see any of the FT'ers today I don't think.. And i definately didnt see a parade.. where was it? All over London! We stood and watched something at Trafalgar Sqaure. Yeah, we seen you sitting down waiting for your train about 6:30 ish!
Trumpet Posted 1 January 2008 Posted 1 January 2008 Ahh right, yeah I was sitting down for about an hour! How did you get to the ground? We just tubed it so we didnt see much of London, never do..

Got to London about 11 ish. Went to Piccadilly got some food then walked around London. Tube from Embankment to Sheperds Bush then 10 minute walk to the ground. Shocked how quiet the tubes were to be honest.

I was equally as shocked of how quiet Loftus Road was. I heard their keeper shouting "winners" before a goalkick to the players (When the keeper was at the opposite end of the pitch!)
JLSuperhoop Posted 1 January 2008 Posted 1 January 2008 QPR fan here.... Just a few quick points.... Thought we deserved to win today, maybe not by 2 goals, but thought on the day we had the outstanding players in Buzsaky and Blackstock and they made the difference. As for you lot....when IH was at QPR he often went with 2 older, slower strikers in Gallen and Furlong. In some matches it worked, but everyone could see we were crying out for a striker with pace...Holloway never addressed this issue. At Plymouth he bought in Ebanks Blake and he has been v. impressive for them since he joined...I just fear for you lot having 2 players up front like Hayles and Howard who are very immobile and pretty slow really. They are quite easy to mark and deal with. Against the lesser teams they will pick up the odd goal, but just cant see how those two will lift you up the table...someone like Iain Hume though is quality, and if he's used correctly I don't think you lot will go down. As for you centre back, Mccauley....is he that bad every week?!

With Fryatt being slow, and Cort too before he dropped out of favour we've not had an enviable choice.
JLSuperhoop Posted 1 January 2008 Posted 1 January 2008 It just reminded me of how we used to play...as I said, it will prob be enough to keep you up, but nothing more. Quite a few QPR fans were v. happy when IH left, he had taken us as far as we could go. In this league, you must have pace....and I think you lot lack it all over the pitch. We're not the quickest team in the league, but with the players we're supposedly signing, I think its a problem we're going to address.

Paddy Posted 1 January 2008 Posted 1 January 2008 I think as henderson has not played since accrington (or forest abandoned game!) then he will need a few games to get back into it. He wasn't at fault at all today, our defenders should be able to pick up a man at the back post no matter WHO is in goal! Every player goes through a bad patch - clemance for sure is not on form, yet there is never much mention of poor performance from our midfield. If we could keep the ball a bit more, we wouldn't concede half as many. We have missed wesolowski again. A few more signings to strengthen the squad are obviously needed - winger, centre back, and a decent midfielder to win and keep the ball! Wish leic fans on here could SUPPORT your team, all I read on here is abuse!!! Well done to those who don't just post crap about everyone and everything just coz we lose a game! Its great to read peoples opinions (like I have posted mine!) But give players a chance - god help us if they read this site ever! Dont get much motivation from their OWN fans hey!
JLSuperhoop Posted 1 January 2008 Posted 1 January 2008 To be honest, we've been linked with too many players...there is a danger we may over do the new signings.... Fitz hall looks like a definite, as do Patrick Agyemang (preston), Hogan Ephraim(west Ham), Matthew Connolly(arsenal), Akos Buzsaky....all would be great signings...also daryl murphy and kris commons and are on our shopping list. Who are you lot looking to sign??

Buzsaky seemed to be in a different class today, he made our midfield look silly, constantly running rings around them. Apart from them 3, you have a pretty average squad. Now you have come into a bit of money, what are your hopes/expectations for the rest of the season ?

Jack Posted 1 January 2008 Posted 1 January 2008 said in the paper this morning that Daryl Murphy is not too keen on signing for you , Connolly decent centre half though Is he the one that is/was on loan at Col U ?
nickm Posted 1 January 2008 Posted 1 January 2008 never ceases to amaze me how generations of foxes fans fail to see the obvious--mattock is a liability, far too often lets his striker get goal side, gives the ball away cheaply and when he gets the chance his distribution is rarely good--he makes schoolboy errors as do the likes of kisnorbo and mcauley--we find it acceptable when they give the ball away in dangerous areas--the likes of cloughie would have run players like those out of town-clocks ticking Ollie!
